It's not long before you can watch athletes dancing on ice or racing against the clock in speed skating. The sports event will run from Feb.4 to 20.
Besides Beijing's promises of hosting a "fantastic, extraordinary(非凡的) and excellent" Winter Games, "safe" is also a keyword. Beijing 2022 made public the principles(原则) that will help the Games go safe and successful. The principles include a vaccination policy (疫苗政策). It says that participants (参与者) of the Games who are not fully vaccinated will have a 21-day quarantine (隔离) as soon as they arrive in Beijing.
First national parks.
China is a large country with different landscapes(风景地貌). Different kinds of animals and plants live here. The country is moving fast to protect them.
Now China has named its first five national parks. The national parks not only give safe homes to plants and animals, but also benefit(有益于)people. China combines(结合)the buildings of national parks with local development. More and more people have taken part in the protection work. In this way, they have turned from consumers to protectors. In the future, national parks are expected to be natural classrooms for everyone.
The Long March.
Last year marks the 85th anniversary (周年纪念)of the victory of a world-famous march—the red Army's Long March of 25,000 li(12,500 kilometers).
Along the way. soldiers went through unimaginable difficulties. They had to fight and survive in a difficult environment. President Xi Jinping has called it a "miracle(奇迹)". He said that we should carry on "the Long March spirit": working hard, not being afraid to sacrifice (牺牲), and believing in communism(共产主义) and the final victory of China's revolution (革命).
