One day, a farmer and his son Thomas saw a horseshoe while they (walk)along a road home. The father said, "Look! There ishorseshoe. Pick it up and put it in your bag. "Thomas said, "It is rubbish. It's worth（价值） nothing. " His father said nothing but picked it up (him).
When they got to a nearby town, they decided(rest) for a while. There, the farmer sold the horseshoe for a few. (cent) and bought some pears with them. Then the father and the son continued their way. The sun shone bright in the sky. What's worse, there wasn't a house or even a tree for them to take breaks. Thomas felt so thirsty（口渴的）and tiredhe couldn't walk on anymore. Just at that time, his father dropped a pear on the groundThomas picked it up quickly to eat. After a while, his father did the same. Again, Thomas picked it up and put it his mouth at once.
When Thomas ate all the pears, his father said to his son(careful), "My son, if you picked up that horseshoe（early）, it would not have been necessary for you to bend（弯腰） for pears so many times. Always remember the lesson that anyone who does not worry about the little things will find he cannot do the great things. "
