I grew up with my grandparents in the countryside. They always encouraged me to do more chores by myself. I didn't understand what it brought to me until I became an adult. It already helped me learn many useful skills.
I learned to cook at the age of 10. Later, I fell love with cooking. It's a good way to relax. More importantly, thanks to my cooking skills, I live better in the pandemic (疫情). Besides cooking, I did a lot farm work in my childhood. I got to know how to plant vegetables. it was hard work, the experience taught me things that many young people don't know.
Some might say we can learn these things from textbooks. But it can't compare to the joy of learning firsthand, watching plants grow. It brings new way to look at the world. You won't waste anything on your plates.
It's necessary for young students learn simple life skills like cooking and cleaning. That's why schools and families pay attention to labor education (劳动教育).
