①In most parts of the world, many students help their schools make less pollution.They join environment clubs. In an environment club, people work together to make ourenvironment clean.

②Here are some things students often do.

③No-garbage lunches. How many lunch bags do you throw away after lunch?Environment clubs ask students to bring their lunches in bags that can be used again. Every week they will choose the classes that make the least garbage and report them to thewhole school.

④No-car day. On a no-car day, nobody comes to school in a car including thestudents and the teachers. Cars give pollution to us, so remember:

Use your legs! It's lots of fun!

⑤Turn off the water! Do you know that some toilets can waste twenty to forty cubic meters of water an hour? In a year, that would fill in a small river. In the environment clubs, students mend those broken toilets, so that they can be used again and the water won't be wasted anymore.

⑥We love our environment. Let's work together to make it better.

When I was a teenager, I did a six-week summer learning program at a college. It helped kids get a taste of what college is like. We had classes in the morning and the evenings were filled with fun activities. We did have a break in the afternoons, however. One afternoon, my friend Claude and I found an old basketball. We went to an outdoor basketball court for a game of one-on-one.

At the time, Claude was taller than me. He was also better at basketball. I fell behind fast. I was determined though, so I drove hard to the basket-and missed it! The ball bounced off the rim(从篮筐弹回) and I jumped up to catch it. Just as I was about to catch it, I saw an elbow above my face. As Claude caught the ball, his elbow(手肘) came down hard, right into my eye. I saw stars everywhere. The pain was terrible. Claude kept saying "sorry" over and over. I laughed through the pain.

I spent the next few days walking around with a black eye, but it was worth it. For years afterward, I got a laugh whenever I told the story and joked about Claude's elbows of death.

In this life, we all get an elbow to the eye sometimes. Our plans fail. Things work against us. Our ups become downs. When this happens, it's best to face it with laughter and forgiveness (原谅). In this way, you can turn your pain to joy and you can learn and grow.

Everyone has parents. But not all of you can get on with parents. Well, how to solve this problem?

Here is some useful advice.

Parents bring you to the world and care about you all the time. They really do their most and best for you, so you should try not to make them sad or angry and be polite to them.

You may choose whatever you can do. For example, doing the dishes, taking out the rubbish or cleaning the room. In fact, when you help them at home, you'll learn how to look after yourself in the future.

You need to care for parents. Have a talk with them about their work when they comeback. Try to make them happy when they are sad in life. Remind(提醒) them to wear warmer clothes in cold days.

In some ways, most parents wish their kids can be the top at school and get a better future. You should try to learn hard and get on well with classmates and teachers so that they don't have to worry about you.

Don't always think of online games in your free time. If possible, you can stay with your parents. When shopping, buy something for your parents. On weekends, take a short trip with them. For parents and you, staying with each other is great.

Do your chores. Help your parents out when you see them working around the house.
