When he 3 came to our class, he didn't look happy. He was very quiet and 4 smiled. Later, he 5 us the reasons. His old classmates thought he was weird (奇怪的) and they never talked to him. He 6 found Chinese very difficult to learn.
We think his old classmates were very unfair(不公正的). Although his Chinese isn't very natural, it's not his fault. He's very friendly and plays 7 very well. Now the boys always play basketball with him 8 school. The girls help him with Chinese. Kamil 9 a lot now.

Water Facts
Water is very important to us. Nearly three quarters of our body is water. 30% to 40% is muscle (肌肉). Every day our body needs one and a half litres (升) of water. We lose water when we breathe and go to the toilet. When we're hot, we also lose water. We can live for a few weeks without food, but we can live only for a few days without water. Betty |
Most food has some water in it. Even bread has water in it. Fruit and vegetables have a lot of water in them, so we should eat plenty of fruit and vegetables every day. For example, oranges, pears, watermelons, apples, tomatoes, cucumbers(黄瓜)and lettuce(生菜)all have a lot of water in them. Ivy |
We use a lot of water at home. We use 70 litres when we have a bath(洗澡)and 100 litres when we use the washing machine a time. What a lot of water! We can help save water at home by taking showers(冲澡)instead of baths. We shouldn't use the washing machine if we only have a few articles of clothing(几件衣服) to wash. We should also remember to turn off the tap when we are brushing our teeth. Tommy |
When the water in a pond freezes(使结冰), it freezes at the top and doesn't freeze at the bottom. This is because cold air can't get through the frozen sheet of ice. The water under this sheet of ice is warm enough for the fish and plants in the pond(池塘)to go on living. Billy |
Television pictures fool your eyes. When you look at a picture, your brain (大脑)holds the picture for one tenth of a second (秒) then you must look again. So when the brain has to hold more than ten pictures a second, it puts them together as moving pictures. You can see this yourself by drawing a lot of pictures of the same person, one on each page of a notebook. Then turn the pages of the notebook very quickly. The person will seem to move.
A television picture uses a series of lines (一系列线) across the screen. The lines change the picture many times each second and make moving pictures. We call this kind of television "analogue (模拟的) television".
Now we have digital(数字的)television. It has no lines. Both sound and pictures are in numbers. When the numbers on a digital television change, only the differences between the old picture and the new one change. So the change is very fast and the picture and sound are very good.
