It's hard to forget the time when I stood in front of all my classmates and forgot my words while I was giving a speech. 1 that, I didn't want to join in any class activities for a long time. 2 , things began to change one day.
A week before my school's English festival, my teacher asked me to make a speech in front of the 3 school. I didn't want to, but my teacher 4 me to think about it carefully and gave me a piece of paper. "The 5 step to success is the willingness (意愿) to try, and the key to it is to work hard. ", I was encouraged by this and decided to have a try.
I finished 6 the speech on paper in a day and practiced it during my lunch breaks. I also asked my teacher for suggestions. As a result, 7 speech was a success. Since then, I've become more active and 8 . I ask and answer questions in class more often and I 9 many different after-school activities.
I learned that the road to success is difficult and we need to have 10 and work hard.

I feel happy when I'm with my family. My parents never compare me with other kids. My mom will say "well done" or "thank you" if I help to do the housework.
I especially like my brother. I still remember when I was eight. I had a bad stomachache. My parents were not at home, so it was my brother, then 14, took me to the hospital. For me, happiness has nothing to do with money. Having a loving and caring family is enough.

I feel happy while trying to help others. Last year, I visited a special school for students with weak sight or hearing loss (丧失). It is difficult for them to write and read pinyin, so I taught them over and over. For over 3 hours, we repeated the same work, but we didn't feel tired. As an old saying goes, "The rose is in her hand, the flavor in mine. "

I feel happy when I hang out with my friends and do something together. Last winter, three friends and I performed an original (原创白勺)song at a school party. At first, we wrote down how we felt about each other, Then, we corrected our mistakes and practiced. Finally, when we sang in the arena (舞台), the audience (观众)were excited. For me, happiness is doing something that I love with like-minded (志趣相投的)people.
Parents are often surprised at their children's ability to use technology. A five-year-old child may easily find and use apps on a smart phone. A ten-year-old child can move up through the levels of a video game easily. Their parents may think their children were born geniuses (天 才)!
Natural geniuses, however, are not common. But your parents are right if they think you are smarter than them. Most children are born smarter than their parents. This has been proved(证明)on IQ tests around the world recently. These tests have shown that over the last 100 years, each new generation (一代人)has become smarter than the older ones. In other words, you are smarter than your parents and your parents are smarter than your grandparents.
This increase in intelligence is called the "Flynn Effect(效应)". It was named after James Flynn. Flynn is a university professor (教授)in New Zealand. He first noticed this in 1980. According to his research, with each new generation, average (平均的)IQ scores would increase by twenty percent.
But why are people getting smarter? Flynn and many other researchers believe this has something to do with technology. New technologies have further developed our brains. They have made us think better. So we may be better at completing the missing parts of a puzzle than our parents.
But being smart doesn't make you wise. Wisdom (智慧)comes with age and experience. A high score on a computer game will not help you solve the everyday problems of life. For that, a smart kid will turn to the wisdom of his parents and grandparents.
You know you have to read "between the lines," to get the information. You shouldn't mark a book which isn't yours. People who lend you books expect you to keep them clean. If you think it is useful to mark books, you will have to buy them.
There are two ways in which one can own a book. One is to pay for it, just as you pay for clothes and furniture (家具). But full ownership comes only when you have made it a part of yourself.
There are three kinds of book owners. The second has most of the books that are as clean as those on the day they were bought. The third has a few dog-eared (翻折的)books, which are marked from front to back.
Why is marking a book necessary? And reading is thinking. The marked book is usually the thought-through book. Writing helps you remember the thoughts you had a lot, or the thoughts the writer expressed.
The book you read for pleasure can be read in a state (状态)of relation, and nothing is lost. But for a great book, rich in ideas, you can5t let your eyes move across the lines. You should come up with an understanding of what you have read.
A. The best way to be a full owner is by writing it. B. Here are some suggestions on getting the information during your reading. C. Because it keeps you awake. D. If reading is to learn anything more than passing time, it must be active. E. The first has all the books that are unread and untouched. |
A: Hi, Li Ming. Did you watch the program of CCTV-1 last night?
B: No, I didn't. ?
A: It was about environmental protection. I like it very much.
B: ?
A: Well, we should save water in our daily life.
B: ?
A: We'd better not use plastic bags, either.
B: Good idea! The natural environment is badly polluted with plastic bags.
A: Right. We can also save paper. Making paper needs many trees.
B: OK. Thank you.
A: . Would you like to join me to protect the environment?
B: . I think we should try our best to protect the environment.

Then he woke up from his dream and found he was a man.
"Who am I, indeed (到底)? " he asked .
"Am I Zhuang Zhou or the butterfly? "
Finally, he said, "Maybe I am a butterfly. In my dream, I a man and my name was Zhuang Zhou. "
Zhuang Zhou lived than 2, 000 years ago. We also call him Zhuang Zi.

Once, Zhuang Zi and his friend were taking a walk the river. After a while, Zhuang Zi said, "Look at the fish! How happy they are! " His friend asked him, "You are not a fish. How do you know they are happy? " Zhuang Zi smiled, you are not me. How do you know that I don't know the fish's feelings?"
Is Zhuang Zi's question a one? What do you think he was — a man or a butterfly?
How Can You Become a Successful Learner?
Everyone is born with the ability to learn. But whether or not you can do this well depends on your learning habits. Research shows that successful learners have some good habits in common.
Creating an interest in what they learn
Studies show that if you are interested in something, your brain is more active and it is also easier for you to pay attention to it for a long time. Good learners often connect what they need to learn with something interesting. For example, if they need to learn English and they like music or sports, they can listen to English songs or watch sports programs in English. This way they will not get bored.
Practicing and learning from mistakes
Good learners think about what they are good at and what they need to practice more. Remember, "Use it or lose it. " Even if you learn something well, you will forget it unless you use it. "Practice makes perfect?9 Good learners will keep practicing what they have learned, and they are not afraid of making mistakes. Alexander Graham Bell did not invent the telephone overnight. He succeeded by trying many times and learning from his mistakes.
Developing their study skills
It is not enough to just study hard. Good learners know the best way they can study. For example, they may take notes by writing down key words or by drawing mind maps. They also look for ways to review what they have learned. They may do this by reading their notes every day or by explaining the information to another student.
Asking questions
Good learners often ask questions during or after class. They even ask each other and try to find out the answers. Knowledge comes from questioning.
Learning is a lifelong journey because every day brings something new. Everything that you learn becomes a part of you and changes you, so learn wisely and learn well.

On April 1, the Xiongan New Area in Hebei Province celebrated its fourth "birthday". The area covers 1, 770 square kilometers. It's about 100 km southwest of Beijing.
The Xiongan New Area is the third important new area after the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone(经济特区) and the Shanghai Pudong New Area. The Xiongan New Area will help solve problems in Beijing, like traffic jams-拥堵and air pollution. For example, this year Hebei Province will speed up the building of an express line (机场快线) between Xiongan and Beijing Daxing International Airport. The express line is going to be finished by the end of 2023.
The building of an Internet industrial (工艺的)park and a science and technology park will also begin in Xiongan this year. What's more, the area will improve the water quality (质量) of Baiyangdian Lake, one of the largest freshwater wetlands in North China.
Xiongan is also called China's "city of the future". According to the 2018-2035 master plan for the Xiongan New Area, the area will develop into a modern city that is green, smart and livable (宜居的) by 2035. It will also be a place for innovation (创新).
The world is getting warmer. Human activity is the main reason for this, the United Nations (UN) said. For example, people use fossil fuels (化石燃料)like coal and oil. They give off a lot of greenhouse gases (温室气体)(especially CO2) into the air. This warms the earth.
As a result, many animals are dying out, (A)____ as penguins (企鹅)and polar bears. It will soon make a difference to us as well. (D) Sea levels will rise and many cities along the sea will disappear.
To fight climate change, countries around the world need to work together. China is now taking the lead. It has set new goals to deal (B)____ this problem. It will bring its total greenhouse gas emissions (排放)to a peak (峰值)before 2030. (C) It will also achieve carbon neutrality (碳中和)before 2060, Xinhua reported.
Being carbon neutral means taking away the same amount of CO2 from the air as you put into it. It was set as an initiative (倡议)by the UN in 2015.
There are two ways to get to carbon neutrality. One is to plant more trees to absorb (吸收) the emitted (排放的)CO2 . The other is to stop C O2 emissions altogether by using non-fossil(非化石)fuels. Examples of these fuels include electricity and wind energy.
Over 20 countries and regions have carbon neutrality goals. Most of them will plant more trees. So will China. If China can realize its goal, it will lower global (全球的)warming by around 0. 2℃ to 0. 3℃ alone, according to Climate Action Tracker (气候行动追踪组织).
Sea levels will rise and cities along the sea will disappear.
