Every sound has a pitch(音高).The pitch of a sound is how high or how low the sound is.Study the graph. Each bar(条形图)shows the lowest pitch to the highest pitch heard. The numbers are given in a measurement called hertz(赫兹).Pitches over 20, 000 hertz are too high for humans to hear. |
In the year 2070, most of you will be more than 60 years old.The good news is that travel might become smarter by that time.European airline EasyJet has made some predictions(预测).Let's take a look at some amazing ideas.
Heartbeat passport
Paper passports will be a thing of the past. You will use "heartbeat passports" instead.According to scientists, everyone's heartbeat is different. So the data (数据) will be used to tell who you are.
More comfortable flight
The seats on the plane will no longer be "one size fits all".You'll be able to have a seat according to your body type. The seat might even be able to cool or warm you to your favourite temperature. There will also be no more screens on the back of your seats.A futuristic device (未来设备) could show movies straight in front of your eyes.
Printed clothes and food
If you hate packing clothes, you may not need to do it in the future. Before you fly, you will have a body scan (扫描).When you get on the plane, you'll find 3 D-printed clothes in your size. When you leave, the clothes can be recycled and reprinted for the next person. You can also 3 D print whatever you want to eat.
Bring history back to life
If you like to visit historic sites (古迹), augmented reality (增强现实), or AR, will change the game.Wearing a headset, you can see what happened at a historic site, such as a famous war.You may even be able to sit among the cheering people at the first Olympic Games.
A beach cleanup is a volunteer activity to protect the environment. It brings people together to collect trash (垃圾) to make the beach a more pleasant and safer place. Many organizations work with local governments to do with the trash that is collected. My husband, Josh, and I go to as many beach cleanups as we can.We even wrote about how much we have enjoyed beach cleanups on our blog.Because it is one of our favorite things to do and has brought us lots of pleasure.
You might not think that picking up trash sounds like fun.But cleaning up a beach is very meaningful. It is a good way to help the environment, get exercise and meet new people. Some beaches are covered with so much trash that cleaning them up might seem impossible. But you can do a lot in just a few hours with a group of volunteers.By the time you finish, you will be encouraged by the results. You might have even made a few new friends!
My first time to join a beach cleanup was in Costa Rica. Our group walked 30 minutes along a path to a small beach called "Playa Basura".It means "trash beach" in Spanish.A lot of trash washes up on the beach there. The beach often looks like it is covered with colorful rocks. But the rocks are just small pieces of plastic. Most of the trash comes from other areas. It washes down rivers and into the sea. Then the currents 水流) carry the rubbish to Playa Basura.
Our group worked hard for about two hours and filled over 100 trash bags. The difference was amazing. But every year the rainy season brings more trash. So, it is lucky that there is a cleanup every year.Trash on beaches like Playa Basura won't end until people stop trash from getting into the sea.But every beach cleanup helps.
"Congratulations!

You can steer(驾驭)yourself any direction you choose."
- Oh, the Places You'll Go!
Published in 1990, Oh, the Places You'll Go!was the 45th and last book of Dr.Seuss.It came out before he died in 1991.Dr.Seuss first heard and used these words when he was at Dartmouth college.
The above piece of Dr.Seuss' writing is an example of why he is thought to be America's most popular children's book writer.Over 53 years, he wrote and illustrated(给…加插图) all 45 of his books himself. His use of rhyme and rhythm (韵律) helped children develop their reading skills.Dr.Seuss' writing style was inspired (激发) by the rhythm of a ship's engine. The poem that came out of that became his first book.
Theodor "Ted"Seuss Geise l was born in 1904.Ted's father often took him to the zoo.Ted always took his drawing board with him and drew pictures of animals. And his mother encouraged him to draw on his bedroom walls.
When Ted studied at Dartmouth college, he began to draw cartoons for the college newspaper. He didn't use his real name, instead, he used "Seuss".He attended graduate school (研究生院) at Oxford University for a year and then he decided to travel around Europe. When he returned, he drew cartoons for the Saturday Evening Post, using the name Dr.Theophrastus Seuss.Later, he changed it into Dr.Seuss.
Though his first children's story was refused many times, a college friend, also children's book editor(编辑), liked it and published it. The rest is history!
a.Seuss travelled around Europe.b.Seuss drew on his bedroom walls.
c.Seuss changed his name into Dr.Seuss.d.Seuss'45th and last book was published.

Games are important for children.By playing games, they learn and practice important skills.Such skills can be even be used long after the games have been put away.Young children learn to follow rules and wait for their turn. They also learn to work together and accept winning or losing.Older children develop thinking skills including using a strategy (策略) and planning ahead. As a result, children will be better at planning and organizing.
Playing board games(桌游) can improve children's attention. To be successful, games must be played to the end without any stops.Players cannot check their phones or leave the table for a snack.Playing board games or card games is also a great way to keep players away from phones and computers. All the studies show that too much screen time is bad for us.When playing a game, everyone has to works with other people.
Playing games is not just for kids, either.Adults also need to make time in their day for enjoyment. This kind of activity can make people feel happier.Sharing joy while playing games not only brings people closer but also helps improve brain function(作用).Besides, playing games can make you think further and have more fresh ideas.
"We don't stop playing because we grow old;we grow old because we stop playing."So make some time to play a game today!
