When I was growing up, I never heard the words "I love you" from my father. 1 your father never said that to you when you were a child, it gets2 for him to say those words as you get older. In fact, I never said those words to him, either.
A few years ago, I3 to make the first move. After some thought, I called my father on the phone and said, "Dad, I love you!"
There was a moment of4 at the other end of the line. "Well, same back at you!" he then replied quickly.
"Dad, I know you love me. When you're5 , you'll say it, too, " I said with a smile.
Fifteen minutes later, my6 called and asked if everything was "OK". She seemed nervous.
A few weeks later, Dad7 our phone conversation with the words: "Son, I love you. " I was at work during this conversation and8 came to my eyes as I finally "heard" the love. This special moment took our father﹣son relationship to a9 level.
If I didn't take the first step, I would never10 the love from my father.
Becky: I believe that some famous people in history were aliens.
Robert: For example, who?
Becky: Well, for example, Leonardo da Vinci.
Jed: Why do you think Leonardo da Vinci was an alien?
Becky: First of all, he was much smarter than everyone else.
Robert: I agree. And then there were all his inventions! He invented all kinds of wonderful machines, such as planes and helicopters (直升飞机). No one had ever even thought of these things before. Maybe he had seen these machines on his home planet before he came to Earth.
Lily: You two are being silly!I think you're wrong. There are many clever people right now, and there have been many clever people in history. You don't have to be an alien to be smart.
Becky: But what about his inventions?
Jed: Many people have invented wonderful things and imagined new worlds, and there weren't aliens. Take Edison and Einstein for example.
Robert: Maybe Edison and Einstein were aliens too.
Hi, Tony,
My family is planning a journey to China in the summer. We want to visit Beijing first. Do you think we should book the plane tickets early? After Beijing, we want to visit Xi'an and Hangzhou, and maybe somewhere else. How can we travel from Beijing to Xi' an, by train or by plane? The cost is not so important, but the time is.
After Xi'an, we want to go to Hangzhou. Is it better to go to Shanghai first, or can we go from Xi'an to Hangzhou directly?
And after Hangzhou what is the best choice? Can we make a short trip to Suzhou?
Thanks for your help.
Sally
The first cartoons appeared in newspapers. They told stories using pictures. The first photographed cartoon film in 1906 was about humorous faces. In the film, an artist drew pictures of two faces on a blackboard. The faces came to life. They smiled and a small dog jumping through a ring.
There were lots of animals in early cartoons. One famous early cartoon character was Felix the Cat.
Walt Disney started to make films in the 1920s. Some of his earliest films were about a famous story, Alice in Wonderland, but in Disney's films it was called Alice in Cartoon Land. Walt Disney's most famous cartoon charter was Micky Mouse. He appeared in 1928, first in a black﹣and ﹣white film without sound, then very soon after that in a talking film and later in colour. A Micky Mouse film was the first cartoon film with sound to become really popular.
Today, over a hundred years later, cartoons are still popular with people of all ages. They will probably be popular for many more years in the future.
Have you ever noticed how you feel when you play with a dog or cat?Or maybe even some other animals, like a goldfish or a rabbit. Of course, playing with pets is fun ﹣ but as it turns out, spending time with animals can also be good for our mental health (心理健康).
"A pet can remind you that you're not alone, " said life coach Desiree Wiercyski. She added that pets give unconditional (无条件的) love. This can be helpful when you feel lonely.
I myself feel a bit sad or lonely from time to time, since I live by myself. But I recently had the chance to take care of my friend's cats while she was away. Caring for her cats has made a big difference in my life. I can speak from experience about this.
So the next time you're feeling a bit blue, maybe you should find a dog or cat to talk to. Even something as easy as petting a cat can make you feel happier and healthier. When I come home, they're always happy to see me. When I'm tired or sad, they come to me and "ask" me to pet them. It's almost like they can tell when I need someone to hang out with.
Do you think history is boring and hard to understand? Then you should not miss If History Were a Group of Cats.
They tell history in the form of comics. The cats' fun pictures make history much more interesting and easier to understand. For example, The cat is roasting (烤) a potato by a fire at the beginning of the story. This is to show Liu's poor life when he was young. Some may say that such comics do not give much information. But they successfully draw people's attention to history.
I think the If History Were a Group of Cats series is like a mini﹣history class. It's an excellent book for anyone who wants to develop an interest in history and learn knowledge.
A. Liu Bang is drawn as "Liu Bang Cat". B. It brings history to life. C. The main characters in the book are 12 cute cats. D. It's very funny, isn't it? E. It gives readers both education and pleasure. |

I think that dogs make good pets.
Firstly, dogs are lovely. I enjoy (play) with them. To hold them in our arms is very (please).
Secondly, dogs are faithful. There was once a faithful dog in (Japanese). One day, his owner died (sudden) of a heart attack. The dog (did) know it and kept on waiting for his owner every day for many years, until he died.
Thirdly, if you keep a pet dog, you need to walk it every day. When you are walking (you) dog, you are doing exercise.
For above all, I believe that dogs make (good) pets.
Keeping pet dogs is a good idea. There are lots of(A)____for this.
First, dogs are really cute. It's nice to hold them in our arms, and it's wonderful to see them grow up.
Second, (B) we can learn responsibility from keeping dogs. We have to feed them, train them and play with them. According to my mum this helps us become more responsible people. Young people can learn (C)如何照顾别人by keeping dogs.
A dog will love you faithfully and bring you lots of happiness for many years.
(D)____I think it's a good idea to keep pet dogs.

Life in the past and present
Your grandparents' teenage days
When my grandparents were young, they wrote letters to keep in touch with others. They used. Their letters were sent by post and it took several days to reach people. While they werethe reply, they might feel worried.
Now
Today weto keep in touch with our friends. Our emails can reach othersand we can get a reply in a short time. We do not use paper to write emails, so we can savetrees and help protect the environment.
