I love the quiet of the late afternoon. Now I (look) at the white clouds in the blue sky. Sitting in the yard(院子), l often (think) of my grandma.
Grandma used to be such a lively person. Unluckily, she (lose) her right leg ten years ago. Since then, she (change) a lot. To help her get through the hard time, I decided to teach her to play the guitar, and we often (sing) in the yard.
The small yard was our classroom. We (sit) in two old chairs under the tree.
When we started to play the guitar, wild cats would come to join us. It (seem) that they also enjoyed the music.
One day, while I (play) the guitar, my grandma started to sing an old song quietly. Tome, the song (be) the most beautiful song in the world. Both of us enjoyed the special time.
Now I know I (live) a harder and busier life in high school soon. But I think this beautiful memory (记忆) will always make me relaxed.
Bill and Cathy wanted to go on a holiday. They chose a place called Maldives (马尔代夫). And they decided to1there for two weeks in spring, because they heard that the weather there was perfect at that time. They worked very hard for several months. Finally, they made enough money for their dream2. But their trip was more like a nightmare(噩梦)!
The problem began when the flight was put off because of the bad weather. They couldn't leave3 night. They finally got on the plane twelve hours later! But they4fly to Maldives because there was a storm. They had 1o fly to the capital city instead. There they stayed in a small hotel5the airport.
The hotel was next to the sea, but the sea was6dirty that they couldn't swim in it. And the hotel swimming pool was full of leaves! The food was awful, too. For breakfast there was 7 bread and milk! The worst part was when the storm came, they felt really8. Because of the bad weather, they had to stay for another night in the small hotel. And they had9to do. It was so boring. Finally, they10in Maldives three days later, and someone told them the weather there had been wonderful all the time!
Visiting Xi'an was once Leah's dream. It came true when she went to China along with her two friends last year.
During her 20 days in Xi'an, Leah got a chance to learn about Chinese culture closely. She visited many old buildings there. Xi'an City Wall was her favourite. In Xi'an, she enjoyed many kinds of food and watched some traditional shows. All of them left a wonderful impression on her. Now, Xi'an is like her second home. Since Leah came back to Spain, she has been missing Xi'an very much.
Leah's 20-day stay in Xi'an was a great experience. It was a chance to increase her understanding of cultural diversity. Leah said, "The Chinese people are all friendly. The cultures are varied among countries, but we are connected by the bond（纽带） of friendship. The future of nations is hopeful with development and peace. The trip in Xi'an will always be in my memory."
There is a famous story about how Walt Disney got the idea of building Disneyland. The story goes that during an afternoon visit to Griffith Park located near the Burbank Studios, Walt took a seat while his two young daughters rode the merry-go-round (旋转木马). Walt thought there should be a wonderful place for both children and their parents so that they could enjoy spending some time together. So the idea for Disneyland came.
At first, Walt planned to build an eight-acre park near the Burbank Studios. Because of the start of World War l1, he had to drop his plan. By 1952, Walt had created a special department (部门)to develop his dream.
In 1953, to determine the best possible location for the future park, Walt worked with the Stanford Research Institute. Thinking about population growth and the future traffic construction (建设), they finally found a location in Anaheim in California and bought160 acres of land for the site of the new park.
The building of the park was very expensive. To raise money for the project, Walt thought up the idea of the" Walt Disney's Disneyland"television show. Through the show, Walt not only got the money to build the park but also presented the park to the American public.
Construction began on July 21, 1954. And finally, the park was ready for the Opening Day on July 17, 1955.
Although I'm not in my childhood, I still prefer reading fairy tales(童话).They often make me think of some special experiences and feelings. This summer I've reviewed The Little Prince. It was first published in 1943.It's a world famous fairy tale written by the French author Antoine.
“I”, the narrator(讲述者) of the story, is a pilot. His plane has something wrong and lands in the Sahara. The little prince lives on a small planet, and he grows a flower called ROSE there. One day they have a quarrel(争吵), so the little prince runs away. On his all alone journey, he meets different kinds of people. From these people he gets a conclusion(结论) that grownups are strange. And with the help of the man he meets, he descends in the Sahara.
This book moves me a lot. It is not only a fairy tale for children and teenagers, but also for grownups.
