Every morning you get up, wash your face, brush your teeth, eat breakfast and get ready for your day. These daily actions are so common that you don't think about them much. But what if you were in space?

There is no gravity (重力) there, so weights are not as heavy as they are on earth. When you drop something, it doesn't fall to the floor. It floats slowly away in the air. This means that astronauts can't just put down a tool. They need to tie it down. 

And how do astronaut drink? In space, water just breaks into small drops and floats in the air. Well, astronauts eat and drink differently in space. They have special place so that their food doesn't float away. They use special bags for drinks so that the drink stays inside. 

Sleep is also different in space. Astronauts tie themselves to the wall so that they don't float around when they are sleeping. Since they have to work hard, they need to get plenty of rest. 

The sun rises and sets so often that it can be confusing. The astronauts have alarms and sometimes music to wake them up. 

Exercise is important for astronauts as well. Since there is no gravity and astronauts float instead of walking or running, their muscles become weak very quickly. They have to exercise on special machines everyday so that this doesn't happen. No one wants to become ill in space and exercise help them stay healthy. 

However, it is not all hard work in space. When they are not doing science experiments, writing reports or exercising, there is a little time for fun. They watch movies, read the news and call family members and friends. The astronauts on the International Space Station can even connect to the Internet. 

Basketball is a much-loved and active sport that is enjoyed by many for fun and exercise. It is over 100years old and is played by more than 100 million people in over 200 countries. In China, you can sometimes see people playing basketball in parks, schools and even in factories. 

Basketball was invented by a Canadian doctor named James Naismith, who was born in 1861. When he was at college, his teacher asked the class to think of a game that can be played in the winter. Dr. Naismith created a game to be played inside on a hard floor. Dr. Naismith divided the men in his class into two teams and taught them to play his new game. The purpose of the game is for players to get a ball into the "basket". Players on the same team must work together to help each other get the ball in the other team's basket. At the same time, they need to stop the competing team from getting the ball into their own basket. 

It is believed that on December 21, 1891, the first basketball game in history was played. Then in 1936 in Berlin, it became an event at the Olympics. Today, the popularity of basketball has risen around the world, with many young people dreaming of becoming famous players. Basketball has not only become a popular sport to play, it has also become a more popular sport to watch. Although America's NBA games are the most famous, the CBA games are becoming popular in China. The number of foreign players, including Chinese players, in the NBA has increased. And there are also more and more foreign players in the CBA. Many young people look up to these basketball heroes and want to become like them. These stars encourage 39. them to work hard to achieve their dreams. 

Not long ago, a 72-year-old Italian woman started her long walk from Venice to Beijing. She wanted to follow the path of Marco Polo, a famous trader and traveler, along the Silk Road. 

The woman is Vienna Cammarota. She loves traveling around the world on foot. She has been a crazy walker for more than 30years. After visiting many places, Cammarota got a new idea a few years ago—following the footsteps of famous people. In 2017, Cammarota made a trip by walking along the path described in a book of Goethe, a famous German poet, and walked through Germany, Austria and Italy. 

However, after taking so many trips, Cammarota did not stop. Instead, she decided to challenge herself again. In April, 2022, she left Venice, the birthplace of Marco Polo, and planned to walk through 15 countries to arrive in Beijing in 2025. 

Along the whole journey, Cammarota has to face many difficulties, for example, the bad weather. However, she has made up her mind to meet her goal. Besides her backpack, she takes a camera with her to record what she sees and experiences on the way. Also, she takes a phone with a health app. Her doctor can check on her heal ththrough it from far away. 

Cammarota hopes to be hosted by people she meets along the way. She wants to talk with them and learn the stories of the countries. "I love history and culture, and I walk in order to see and tell, but above all to listen, "said Cammarota. 

Beijing Opera is our national opera. It contains the soul of Chinese national culture. It has a history from 1790. . There are four main roles in Beijing Opera: Sheng, Dan, Jing and Chou. Beijing Opera is full of famous stories, beautiful facial (脸部的) paintings, wonderful gestures(姿态)and fighting, Some of the stories are from history books, but many of them are from famous novels. 

. They became angry, unhappy, sad and lonely. Sometimes they are frightened and worried. Then they find a way to make peace with each other. 

Beijing Opera is an important part of Chinese culture. . But now, more and more young people are becoming interested in it. At the same time, more people around the world are learning about Beijing Opera.  If you want to taste the real Beijing Opera, Liyuan Theatre in Beijing will be a good choice for you. 

We drink one of the world's most popular drinks —tea —on May 21, International Tea Day. We all know that China is the birthplace of tea  . But do you know about the tea cultures of some  countries? Tea was brought to Japan from China in the ninth century. Then in the late century, the Japanese monk(僧侣) Eisai introduced tea to Japan from China again. Eisai wrote a book praising tea a  that was especially good for the heart. The custom of tea — drinking later became an important part of Japanese culture. In Japan, serving tea is an art. People use beautiful tea bowls and enjoy the and calm of the tea room. India is one of the tea producers in the world. It also learned the art of tea — drinking from China centuries ago. Tea is very popular in India. In fact 70 pereent of the tea it produces is loved by its own people. Traditional India tea is a type of black tea. But unlike Chinese black tea, India tea is mixed together strong spices such as ginger (姜). 

Turkey also has a tea culture. If you ever find in Turkey, one thing you have to do is to enjoy special tea there. Tea was brought to the country from China in the nineteenth century. The traditional Turkish tea cup is in the shape of a tulip (郁金香). The tea is  served very hot and one has to hold the cup by its own lower rim(边沿), Most often,   or sweet biscuits, called "kurabiye", are served along with the tea. 

It was around 3 P. M. on Sunday. Gina  basketball with her brother Bill outside when she saw a car stop in front of Jenny's house. Jenny jumped out of the car, and Gina could hear a lot of voices  and saying goodbye to Jenny. Gina  terribly uncomfortable, and her eyes started to water.

"Hey, what's wrong?"Bill asked.

"Nothing. I don't want to play anymore. "Gina stormed inside and slammed (砰地关上)the door. She  straight to her room. Gina heard Bill talking to her mom in the living room, but she didn't want to talk to anyone. 

"Gina, are you OK?"her mom asked" What are you doing inside, my dear? May I come in?"

Gina opened the door. Her mom always had some good ideas  her.

"What's going on, Gina?" Mom asked.

"Jenny went somewhere with our friends, but she didn't invite me, "Gina said. "That's not very nice. After all, we  friends for nearly 5 years. "

"Oh, honey, I'm sorry. I will be pretty upset too if I feel left out. Maybe Jenny knew that you wouldn't like what they were going to do, "Mom suggested. "Why don't you talk with Jenny on Monday?" 

"I don't want to talk to her. I  her out. "

"Well. . . sometimes ignoring(忽视) another person is a good choice, but I don't think this is the right time to do that. You might lose Jenny as a friend if you make such a choice without talking about it with her, " replied Mom. 

"I still want Jenny to be my friend, but talking about it is uncomfortable. I just expect her to know what's wrong and say she's sorry.

"OK, Mom, I will. Thanks, " Gina said.

And guess what? Gina's mom was right! A new snake show day. Jenny knew Gina didn't like snakes, so she didn't invite her. 

Gina was glad she had talked to Jenny the problem. 

Travelling for holidays is very popular now. Making a good travel plan is very important. Here are some useful suggestions on making a travel plan. 

* Choose the best travel package. Many companies offer travel packages to travellers. Sometimes, they offer travel packages at low prices. You can find this kind of company on the Internet. 

* Book your ticket earlier. Many airplane companies will offer cheap tickets to last-minute travellers. However, if you want to travel by air, you'd better book your ticket earlier, and then you can also book hotel rooms earlier. 

* Choose what you want to take. Be sure to take all necessary things. However, don't make your bag too heavy. You'd better take clothes that match the weather of the place you are going to. It's also important to take some medicine and all important papers for travel. 

* Buy a guidebook. Remember to have a guidebook of the place you want to visit. You may have little or no knowledge about the interesting places there. Make sure the guidebook is new and also has some helpful words in the local language. This will help you when you want to talk with the local people, for example, when asking for directions.
