It is not always easy to discover yourself. From a young age, I wondered what I would become, but an accident changed everything. To me, skating was more important than in the world. Nothing else filled my heart with so much joy. I spent 24 hours a week my skills. I had no social life or interests except skating, so all I wanted was to win in every competition I took part in.

Unluckily, during one competition, I fell and was badly hurt. The doctor told me that I couldn't skate anymore. Sometimes I couldn't stand the pain . Even quite simple things became impossible for me.

I lost heart and had no idea what I could do. After eight months of suffering（折磨）, something had to change sitting around and wasting my days. I began to work with some service programs in my neighborhood. By volunteering as a swimming teacher and summer reading assistant（助教） for kids, I became confident again. I kids well and I had a strong feeling of satisfaction when seeing smiles on their faces. Little by little, I walked out of the shadow （阴影）and I've been for the future. Sometimes, challenges in life will get in our way. We can choose to stay behind or try to deal with them. My accident was a challenge but it failed to stop me from moving on. The water tap was leaking (漏水) again, and the noise was driving Cassie crazy.

Cassie looked at her watch. It was nearly nine o'clock. She climbed out of bed and stood on a chair by the shelf. Her mother's Mr. Fix-It Book was on the top shelf. She found the page she was looking for and then began to read carefully.

Next, Cassie opened a box in the kitchen and picked out the tools she needed—a hammer, a wrench (扳手), and several small things. It was not easy for her to repair the tap, and she tried several times. Finally, the water tap was in pieces. One by one, she carefully laid them out on the table. That way she would know how they went back.

Cassie worked late into the night. At one point, she thought she was done. Oops! A small piece that she had forgotten still lay on the table. Slowly Cassie took the water tap apart (分开) one more time. This time she made sure everything was in place. She turned the water tap on and then off. One... two... three... She waited a full minute. There was no leak! Cassie smiled and put the tools back into the box. Then she went to bed and fell asleep.

The next morning, Dad was in the kitchen when Cassie got up.

"Notice anything, Dad?" she asked.

He looked around and listened. "Hmm, something's missing... I can't find out what it is... Wait, it's too quiet in here!"

"That's right," Cassie said. "Something is missing. I fixed the water tap. It doesn't leak any more."

I know my brother better than anyone else in the world. Since the moment of his birth, I've been part of his life. I had spent seven1years in the world with the attention of those around me. But when Rohan was born, life changed. Suddenly I had to 2 my toys and there were no more bedtime stories or my own choice of food.

Everyone knows they feel much better after a good night's sleep, but now scientists have discovered it can help you to live longer too. According to a study in the US, healthy sleeping habits mean men can live almost five years longer, and women for two years. It also found that sleep improves our health and r the chance of heart disease.

However, a study shows it's not just about how long you sleep; the q of your sleep is important too. Dr Frank Qian said sleep must be restful. The researchers said that good sleep for adults depended on five basic factors: getting seven to eight hours of sleep each night; having trouble falling asleep no more than twice a week; having trouble staying asleep no more than twice a week; not using m to get to sleep; waking up feeling rested at least five days a week.

Each factor was given one point with a total of five points. The researchers looked at the results of a survey of 172,321 people in the US that measured their health habits, i sleep, over five years. They found that people who had all five points were l to live longer and lead healthier lives than those who had sleep difficulties.

According to The Sleep Charity, a good night's sleep can improve people's memory. Dr Qian admits that no one's sleep is p — everyone has a late or restless night sometimes. However, he said, "Even from a young age, if people can develop these good habits of getting enough sleep, making sure they are sleeping tight… it can greatly b their overall long-term health." The study was based on people reporting their own sleep habits rather than recording them scientifically, so this may have affected the results and more research is needed.

Chinese belongs to an elite（精英的）culture in European and American countries. Ordinary people in Europe and America have no interest in Chinese. They think Chinese is really too difficult for them to learn. However, in the elite circles of Europe and America, it is different. No matter in business and space, or science research. Not only the European astronauts have to learn Chinese, but also the workers of the Saudi Arabian who work closely with China. Even American astronauts need to learn Chinese ahead of time（提前）.

More and more European and American elites start to learn Chinese because the future of China's global influence will be bigger and bigger. They plan ahead and plan ahead for their children.
