Last year, my parents took me on a very special holiday.
My dream was to see some real1, so during the Christmas holiday, we took our passports and flew2the Pacific to Calgary, Canada. We took a bus to a ski resort in the Canadian Rockies. 3the bus climbed through the mountains, we saw the thick snow on the trees. I was 4to get out and play with it! At last，we reached the resort and5jumped out of the bus. This was our first experience with snow. Everything was new6us. We were like little children…we made7, and threw them at one another! Then we8at the hotel. We could see the ski slope opposite the hotel. We could not wait to get out and ski.
The next day, we put on our ski suits and gloves, took our skis and went outside onto the snow. Wearing skis for the first time made me feel9. Suddenly I found that I10to walk! Then we had a skiing lesson with a young couple. Our instructor took us to a safest slope11is not steep, and showed us some basic skills.12 ， that first lesson was not a great success. I kept on falling over, and I had to hold on to a rope to keep my balance.
However, the next day, I only fell over a few times, and I managed to do a few rapid13. I felt pleased with myself, and my instructor told me I was doing14better. Although it was very cold, I spent most of my holiday skiing. I had a wonderful time.
It was all over too soon. It was a15, but we had to leave. I wish my parents would take me back for another wonderful skiing holiday next year.
Are you a film fan? Jack the Giant Slayer《巨人捕手杰克》comes to the screen this week.
It tells the story of the war between humans and giants. Though it is based on a classic English fairytale Jack and the Beanstalk《杰克与豆蔓》, there is still something new to watch in this film.
In the original story, there was only one giant. In this story there are a large number of them. They have different characteristics（特征）that are really fun to watch. The giants are very different from what people have seen before.
Actor Nicholas Hoult plays Jack, the farm boy who opens a door between our world and the giants by accident. The giants come onto the Earth through the door for the first time in centuries and they want to get back the land they once lost. The brave young man Jack tries his best to stop the giants. He comes face to face with the giants and makes himself a warrior（勇士）.
Jack the Giant Slayer is fresh and wonderful. You can imagine yourselves being involved in Jack's world when you see this film. Hopefully you'll laugh as well. It's full of fun.

Starting high school can be difficult. Everyone is nervous and nobody knows where to go for classes. Thinking about making new friends might make you feel nervous, too. But don't worry, because you are not alone. You are going to school with a group of students of your age, and we have several suggestions for you to follow.
Forget your fear and just talk to some
Don't be afraid to get close to strangers. Introduce yourself and start a conversation about something you have in common. Sit in the middle of the classroom with many new friends around you as possible.
Join clubs
Take part in after-school activities that interest you. Try to make friends in clubs. If you join anything, you will be just going to classes and then going home. Being in a club makes you more social.
Stay clean
No one likes a bad smell that could knock somebody over. Shower every day, brush your teeth and wash your hair. You should make yourself look clean and tidy, whatever you wear.
Be respectful of people's differences
Everyone has his or her own opinion (观点) of the world. And everyone believes different things. It's a good thing to have different friends with different opinions because you can each share your own.
Chen Jinying who is called "Honest Lady" comes from Lishui, Zhejiang. She is 90 years old. She used to be a boss. After she retired(退休), she opened a clothes factory and it went very well. In 2011, her factory was in trouble and she was in debt(欠债), so she had to sell her apartment and her factory to pay back her debt.
After ten years, she finally paid back all her debt. It's said that someone advised her to apply for bankruptcy(申请破产), then she could avoid paying back her debt, but she refuse. "I can't do that. When we're in debt, we must pay it back." The old lady sold most of her things to pay back the debt because of this faith. Some businessmen were so touched by this "Honest Lady" that they reached out to help her. When things became better, she gave away jackets worth more than 20, 000 yuan to an old people's home and more than 140 persons received the warmth she passed.
Chen shows us how to be an honest and trustworthy(可信赖的) person. When one person loses his honesty, he'll fail. The 90-year-old lady not only moves us, but also gives us a true lesson in honesty.
When I was young boy, I was so interested in Chinese movies that I wanted to know more about Chinese culture like kung fu and xiqu. I often （dream） to go to China one day.

I am a plastic bottle. A week ago, I was on a supermarket shelf. I had a normal life, all my brothers and sisters. I felt really happy. Then a tall woman picked me up and put me in her basket! The woman took me home and put me in the fridge. It was cold, but I soon the cans and bottles in it. However, only a few hours later, she took me out of the fridge and drank the water inside me. Then she threw me into a dustbin.
Early in the next morning, a man took me out of the dustbin. He threw me into the back a truck. There were horrible smells.
I slept for a while. When I woke up, I found myself . Everything around me was ugly and had horrible smells. I kept hoping that I would be moved . Then huge trucks came and covered us with a layer of soil. I knew we would have to stay here for thousands of years.
"Why can't people reuse or recycle us?" I cried.
