Talent shows are getting more and more popular. First, there were shows American Idol and America's Got Talent. Now, there are similar shows around the world, such as China's Got Talent.

All these shows have one thing in  . They try to look for the best singers, the most    talented dancers, the most exciting magicians, the funniest actors and so on. All kinds of people join these shows. But that's up to you to who is the best piano player or singer. When people watch the show, they usually play a role in deciding the winner.

However, not  enjoys watching these shows. Some think that the lives of the performers are made up. For example, some people say they are poor farmers,  in fact they are just actors. However, if you don't take these shows too  , they are fun to watch.

Constanza Ceruti is a mountain archaeologist(考古学家). She mainly works on the study of archaeology on high mountains. So far, she has1more than 100 mountains over 5, 029 meters high.

In 1999, Ceruti and her team climbed Llullaillaco. It was a2climb with blowing snow and strong winds. When the climbers3reached the top, they found some valuable(宝贵的) things.

"This was not just an archaeologieal find, "says Ceruti, "This was like meeting someone from the4. "

Ceruti is always5in ancient civilizations(古代文明). Her dream is to live and work near the mountains. She began to work hard to reach her goal even when she was in school. However, 6was her biggest problem. As a result, she had to7more time on it.

Now, Ceruti uses math all the time. "How many meters will we climb? How long will it take? What time do we start?" She knows that careful planning is the8to success.

The trip to the top of Mount Llullaillaco was long and hard. 9it did not stop Ceruti from climbing.

" Just think of the Incas who climbed these mountains hundreds of years ago, " she says, " The experience is similar. "

With preparations and resolutions, Ceruti shows one thing: no mountain is10difficult to reach!

Robots seem very new to most people, but they have a long history. People began to make robots about several hundred years ago. In the past, some of the early ones worked like clocks and did the same things over and over again. And they couldn't talk.

Now modern(现代的) robots don't always look like people. Some are like big machines, some have boxy bodies  and  others have  long  arms. Most robots  arc used  in  factories. They  are used to  do many dangerous, difficult or boring jobs. Robots are also used in hospitals. In an American hospital, a robot takes meals from the kitchen to the sick people's rooms. It never gets lost because it has a map of the hospital in its computer system(系统). You may see robots in some films. The robots are stronger, faster and cleverer than people in these films. However, in real life, modern robots are smart, too. Some can solve problems on their own. Their brains(大脑) are computers and their eyes are sensors(传感器) in the future, robots will learn from their mistakes more than they do now.

In the future, robots will work in space. But robots will never take the place of humans. They can, however, help us in a lot of different ways.

Do you want to know how you can succeed in a new school term? Here are several tips for you from some teachers.

Use a calendar or chart. Write down special tasks, activities and important dates on a calendar. This helps you remember things you need to do. You can also make a chart. Then, use colorful pens to circle or draw a line under your homework, reading tasks or other activities. By using a chart, you can learn how to plan for your studies.

Buy folders( 文件夹) in different colors. Put your notebooks in different folders according to the subject. This helps you keep papers and notes organized.

Books are great friends. Visit the bookstore or library every few weeks to find a new book to read. The more you get excited about reading, the more confident you will become.

Join all kinds of clubs or  sports. It's  important to  communicate with teenagers  outside of school. Joining sports clubs or other group activities is also a good way to help you learn how to get on with others. During this process(过程), you can learn how to solve problems and respect others.

Ask for help. You're never too old to ask for help. You can turn to your teachers when there is a question about homework, projects or relationships with your family members. They are there to help solve problems and listen to you.

Are you a shy person? Do you expect to become outgoing?    In fact, being outgoing is not so hard as you think. Here is some advice on how to become outgoing.

You can start to try becoming outgoing when you stay with your friends. But the real challenge (挑战 )comes when you meet strangers or new friends. Smile at them, and usually they will smile at you, too.

Try to speak first. Simple greetings, such as  "Hello ! ""How is it going? "  and  "It's a little cloudy today, isn't it?" , are a good start. After that, you can talk more. For example, you can talk about the latest news. But you'd better read some news in newspapers and have your own ideas first.

 It  is  also  a  very  important  step. Usually  those  who  like  to  do  the  same  things  can communicate(交流)better. If you like playing sports, go to a sports club. You may make many new friends there ifyou get over your shyness.

If you were born in the 2000s, you are called the oh-ohs. The 21st century. That would make you young, creative, connected, world-wide, and no doubt smart. Maybe good-looking, too. Right? But what do other people think about your generation?

Some adults worry that you'  re more interested in the screen in front of you than the world around you. They think of you as the  " face-down generation" because you use your phone so much. They wonder how you will deal with school, friends, and family.

Other adults worry that today's youth are spoilt(溺爱) and don't want to face the challenges of adult life. Many children born in the 1990sand 2000s were raised by " helicopter parents". They were always thereto guide and help their children with a busy program filled with home-work and after school activities such as dancing, drawing, or sports. With parents who do everything for them, today's youth seem to prefer to live like teenagers even when they are in their 20s or 30s.

Does the face-down generation need a heads-up? Well, probably not. The fact is that many of today's teenagers are better educated and more creative than past generations. They seem to be willing to become leaders. More young people than ever volunteer to help their communities. There are also brave young people such as Malala Yousafzai, the teenager who won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for pushing girls' rights to go to school.

So if you' re one of the oh-ohs, there's reason to be hopeful about the future. Things are looking up for the face-down generation. Chances are that you do great things and laugh out loud.
