One Saturday afternoon, Kate went to buy something for her sister and herself.
As Kate was coming out of a shop, a young lady walked towards her. She said she was Miss Green, a good friend of Kate's sister's. Kate believed her. Then she called a taxi to send Kate home. She told the driver where he should go. Kate was surprised that it was not in the direction of her home.
"Why?" Kate asked. The lady smiled, but didn't explain the reason.
When they came to a quiet road , a big rude(粗鲁的) man appeared on the road. He stopped the time. Miss Green took out a knife and pointed it at Kate. She asked Kate to keep quiet. The man then started the taxi.
"Oh! I'm being Kidnapped(绑架)," Kate said to herself.
She tried to escape, but she didn't succeed. Suddenly an idea came to her. She took out a lipstick(口红) from her pocket, wrote 'SOS' on the window, and covered the word with her back.
A few minutes later, a police car passed and the policemen saw the sign. When the kidnappers saw the policemen, they stopped the taxi, jumped into the grass, and ran away.
The policemen then picked Kate up and sent her home. When her parents knew what had happened, they were greatly surprised. But they were happy because their daughter had finally come back safely.
Animal ,formed in circuses(马XA)1or years,. but now animal lovers say it's time for this cruel (残酷的) show to stop.
Wild: animals were put on show by the Egyptians, the Greeks and the Romans.
The public have always been interested by seeing dangerous animals face to face.
Travelling circuses with performing animals became popular about 200 years ago but the type of circus we are familiar with today began in the 1830s. Now the RSPCA and the BFF say it is time to stop Wild animals being trained to perform in circuses. According to a study carried out in 2015, 80% of the people thought the use of animals in circuses was not right.
In circuses. wild animals live in poor conditions and may be tied to chains until it is time for them to perform. Circuses usually stay in town for some days. The animals are then loaded onto trucks and driven around the country, sometimes for long distances.
This happens for most of the year and charities such as the RSPCA think it is wrong to allow animals to live in such unnatural conditions. The charity also says that the animal slack(缺乏)their chances of getting to live their quiet and peaceful lives and are displayed in noisy places that they would not experience in the wild.
At the moment there are no laws to stop circuses from using more wild animals. However, the government is deciding whether to pass a new animal welfare law. Many people hope the new law will lead to a ban(禁止)on animals in circuses. Virginia Mc Kenna, co-founder of the BFF, said, "I am shocked that we still use wild animals in this way for fun. Animals should be loved for what they do in the wild. They shouldn't be made the objects of laughter."
Many people think dreams are full of messages that may not be clear to us common people. But if we think about what is going on in our lives, we can usually come up with an answer. Let's look at some of the most common dreams.
Falling
You're falling, falling, falling... and then you wake up. This dream is said to mean you are afraid or worried. There may be something in your life that is ant of control and there is nothing you can do to stop it. Maybe you're not doing well in school or work.
Taking an exam (or forgetting that you have one)
You suddenly realize you have to take an exam at that very moment. Experts say this dream may mean you're being tested about something or maybe you are facing a challenge.
Flying
Dreaming that you are flying means you are on top of things. You are in control of the things that matter to you.
Trying to run, but going nowhere
You're trying to run, but either of your legs won't move or you simply aren't going anywhere.
In fact, unlike these dreams, there are also many strange dreams that experts may not be able to explain.
A. Another explanation is that you may fail in something.
B. It may also mean you have confidence in yourself and think no one and nothing can beat you.
C. What do these dreams mean?
D. You might be running here and there to find your classroom.
E. Some experts think this dream means you're trying to do too many things at once and can't catch up or move forward.
