Are you always happy during your vacation? Many people may say "yes". But last week I had a bad vacation.
My parents and I went to the Great Wall by car. We got in the car at 7:00 a. m., but on the half way, there was something wrong with the car. It was about 11:00 a. m. when we got to the Great Wall.
We were excited when we stood on the Great Wall. I took out the camera and wanted to take some photos. But just then, it started to rain. We had to go back to our car. When we wanted to eat something, we found we left our food at home.

My name is Huang Lei. My English name is Laura and I' m fourteen years old. My best friend is Vera. She comes from Singapore and is one year younger than me. She came to China with her family five years ago. At the beginning, she could hardly pronounce (发音) the Chinese words correctly, so she couldn't speak Chinese well but now it's different. She's very hard- working at school and she's fluent in Chinese now.
Vera is tall and beautiful. She has long curly black hair and brown eyes. We are in the same school and she lives not far from my home. We often go home together. After school we also spend some time together. Because I' m better at math and science and she is better at history and geography, we can always help each other with our homework. She also likes reading very much. Last year she, won a special prize for the best reader in our class.
My friend is not very sporty. She doesn't like team games but she likes swimming. I like sports and we go swimming together every Saturday morning. She's a little shy with new people but with me she's friendly! I like her and she always brings out the best in me. I really hope we can be best friends for life.
Jumbo was the name of an elephant born in Africa more than 100 years ago. While he was still a baby, he went to live in a zoo in Paris, France. In 1865 Jumbo moved to another zoo in London, England. People who visited him loved him very much, so they brought him delicious fruits and peanuts to eat. The zoo keeper also gave him vegetables.
Before long Jumbo was known as the biggest elephant in the world. By the time he was fully grown, he was 12 feet tall and weighed more than 12, 000 pounds. He was so big that people began using his name to describe other large things. In fact, when things were bigger than normal, people started calling them jumbo size.
Jumbo lived at the London Zoo for 17 years. People came from all over the world to visit him. One visitor was P. T. Barnum, a famous circus owner from the United States. He liked Jumbo so much that he bought the elephant for 10, 000. He wanted Jumbo in his circus.
The people of England were sorry to see Jumbo leave. Many people sent him gifts when he left England. Thousands of people met Jumbo with even more gifts to welcome him to the United States. He quickly became famous in his new home. Today Jumbo's name still means the same thing very, very big.
Being outgoing is good for your life. Those who are more outgoing meet lots of interesting people and have (much) fun in life. In fact, being outgoing is not so (hard) as you think. Even the shy people can be outgoing.
You can start becoming outgoing your best friend or a group of friends. But the real challenge (挑战) (come) when you meet strange people or new friends. Smile more, and usually they will return your smile. In this way, you may (have) some talks.
Start a talk. Just a simple "Hello" or "How is it going" (be) a good start. If you want (make) interesting talks, you should read the news and prepare (准备) your views. Surf the Internet for new information and then (keep) that in mind.
The (easy) way to become more outgoing is to go out. This is also (important) step (步). Go to a park, beach, club, party or any other place that you think can be fun, and you may make new friends there.

Rowing is a good sport for people. The sport is not so common in China, but almost half of all American high schools have rowing . Recently, the school where I study had a rowing season that me many great experiences.
During the season, we practiced rowing a lot. We got up at six every Saturday morning and practiced for three hours on the Each one of us had an oar (桨) and we each rowed one oar with both hands. Together we pulled the oars, and the oars pushed the water back so the boat would move forward. After three hours of practice, we often felt very tired, because rowing is a very physical sport.
When you row, you do a lot of work with your legs and back.
Though the practices very hard, I chose to do them because I like the joy the hard work brings. At every practice, I always did my . Even when the coaches were not there. I kept rowing hard with my hands because I wanted to find out how well I could do. In order to move the boat, everyone in the team must keep the same speed (速度) so we needed to work together.
The hard work I did during the rowing helped me develop my teamwork qualities. The experience also me that if you want to get something. you need to pay something first. As Americans like to say, "No pains, no gains!"
On July 20th, 2021, Ben went to Qingdao, Shandong for the summer vacation with his parents. Ben was excited about the trip because he hoped to see the beautiful sea very much.
It was about 10:00 am when they arrived in Qingdao by bus on the first day. They found a hotel and had a short rest in their room first. After lunch, they decided to go to the beach. At about 5:00 p. m. they got to the beach. It was really hot and sunny. There were many people on the beach." Some talked to each other, some played ball games, and others swam in the sea. Ben and his parents soon joined them. Ben's parents spent much time playing beach volleyball. Ben enjoyed swimming in the sea. About two hours later, they went back to the hotel. They all felt very relaxed.
On the second day, it rained all the day. Ben watched TV with his father in the hotel room. His mother went shopping by herself.
On July 22nd, they went to Laoshan Mountain by bus in the morning. They climbed the mountain and took lots of photos. They took the bus back to the hotel at five in the afternoon. They were tired but very happy.
On the morning of July 23rd, they left the hotel and took the bus home.
