In a large house lived a young man. He1in the afternoon. Later, he ate his meal and then lay（躺）in2again，He had a parrot（鹦鹉）named Polly. Polly watched this3man everyday. And she was worried about him.
One day Polly asked the young man, "Don't you get4of lying in bed all day and all night? The sun came up hours ago. And people have finished half their day's work. Why are you so lazy?"
The young man answered, "Every morning, when I wake up, two5whisper（私语）in my ears. One of them is Hard Work and the other is Laziness. Hard Work says, "Wake up! There are a lot of things to6today. Time is passing by, and don't7all of it sleeping." But Laziness says. "It isn't8to get up so early. Sleep some more. Why should you9while there are others working hard? "I listen to both my friends. All my10goes by like that. And so I keep lying in bed for a long time and never get tired."
Friday, August 10th
It was fine today. My friends and I had an egg and an apple for breakfast. Then we went to Tian'anmen Square in the morning. It's great! In the afternoon, we went swimming. I taught some kids to swim. It was interesting.
Saturday, August 11th
It was cool today. We went to the Great Wall. The Great Wall is very long and great. We were very tired and hungry in the evening. So we ate a lot for dinner. I ate a large bowl of noodles, chicken and ice cream. The food was delicious.
Sunday, August 12th
It was rainy today, so we stayed in the camp. I wrote letters to my family and friends. At noon we ate hamburgers and salad for lunch. After lunch, we watched an action movie. It was exciting.
Cindy, Jenny and Mary are talking about what a good friend should be like.
Cindy: I think a good friend should be honest （诚实的）. That's more important than any other thing. And it is where a friendship starts. If a friend isn't honest, he may lose his friends' trust.
Jenny：I think a good friend has to be generous （慷慨的）. Here being generous doesn't mean he has to give his friends his lunch money or his clothes. It means he should share his ideas and feelings with his friends. In fact, his friends can know him better in this way.
Mary： In my opinion, a good friend should understand his friends. When there's something wrong between him and his friends, he must put himself in his friends' place and think more about his friends.

Only mother's love is true love. It gives everybody everything all her life. When you are still a baby, mother takes good care of you as possible as she can. In your walking hours she always holds you in her arms. When you are ill, she looks after you day and night and forgets about herself. When you are growing up day by day, she feels very happy. When you are old enough to go to school, mother still looks after you all the time.
On cold winter days she always tells you to put on more clothes. She always stands in the wind waiting for you to come back from school. When you go to school without breakfast, she always feels worried about you at home. She usually knows about your study and spends much money on your school things. When you do well in school, you will see the brightest smile on her face.
Mother is always ready to give everything she has to her children, not to return. What true love that is in the world! We'll remember mother's love forever!
What do you want to be when you grow up? People like to ask their children the same question. Jake Schclenschiager from the US had different answers to the question when he was a little boy. However, he had his final answer at the age of 12. After seeing his father doing weightlifting (举重)，he had a big dream —he wanted to be the strongest kid in the world. Jake told us "Like father, like son". He also said, "My father is super strong, so I want to be as strong as my dad."
To make his dream come true, Jake trained (训练)very hard. When his friends were playing games, he spent his time on weightlifting. After two years of hard work, the boy was able to lift more than twice his own weight. Now he trains every day and hopes to lift (举起) more weights.
Jake has talked about his love of weightlifting and his dream to many people. However, not everyone is excited about it. Some people are worried that too much training may be bad for the growing of the boy's body. Jake's parents say they don't worry about their son's health because he gets regular check-ups (体格检查)and good training.
Robert is Mike's good friend. They b study at No. 1 Middle School. Robert lives far from school, he still walks there every day. At school Robert favorite subject is math. Robert is (funny) than Mike. At school he often tells his friends some interesting jokes. He always makes them (laugh). His friends all love to listen to him. And they think Robert is very (talent). Mike and Robert like sports. And Robert is (good) at playing tennis than Mike. He even wins in a tennis (compete). Robert cares Mike very much, because he thinks it's (importance) for friends to keep friendship. They truly like the (say), "A friend in need is a friend indeed.
