When I was eleven, my mother worked all day. As a sister, I had to look after my younger sister. My little sister was about three years old and she missed Mum all the time.
One day, she started crying for Mum after lunch. She was so young and really needed Mum. To make her stop crying, I dressed her up, carried her on my back and walked out to the park.
Before we got to the park, I found one of her shoes lost. I took her off my back and put her down.
I knew we needed to find that shoe, for our mother didn't have enough money to buy her new shoes. I had to go back to find it, so I told my sister to wait right there.
A man happened to hear my words and asked me, "Are you leaving your sister here to find the shoe, what will you do if she's not here when you return?" I didn't know how to answer that question." It's OK if you can't find the shoe, but it is not OK to lose your sister," he added. Then he sent us to Mum's workplace by taxi and left without another word.
People always say, "Do not believe in strangers（陌生人）." But during my whole life, the kindness of the man is always in my mind. I feel regretful that I can't find him and say "Thank you." I do not even remember what he looked like, but he taught me a lesson﹣﹣people are more important than things.
For a lot of our time, we sit in the traffic jams（交通拥堵）. But that's not the only problem with traffic. Smoke（烟） from our cars is bad for animals, plants and us! And it's making the world warmer. That may be our biggest problem in a few years.
Bicycles are a good answer. They don't make smoke. They're good for our bodies and they're fun. But cycling（骑自行车） to work can be hard, very hard if you live many kilometers away from your workplace.
Do you know about the World Car-Free Day on September 22? On that day, people leave their cars at home. They take the bus or train, or they cycle to work. Some people walk if they live near their workplace.
Why is World Car-Free Day good? First, for one day in a year there's less traffic. What's more, it helps people to think about the problem of traffic. They see that buses and trains aren't so bad, or that cycling and walking are good for them.
Do you want to make more friends?Read the following rules. They will help you.
Shower, brush your teeth, and try to look nice. Dress in clean clothes that make you feel good and comfortable.
Try to smile more often at people. It will get them to think that you're friendly. Then they'll talk to you more even if they don't know you.
Some people worry about talking because they think, "What am I going to talk about with that person?" Outgoing people don't think about it. They just go up to people and say what they think.
You can just talk. People will think that you're self﹣centered（自我为中心的）. You have to listen to others and give your ideas. Let them know what you think.
Don't just stay at home and do nothing. Surf the Internet for news and talk about them when you're with your friends.
