Short videos are now popular with people. They have millions of views（浏览）online. Many people share short videos on popular video apps like Tik Tok（抖音）and kuaishou/ You can even add music and special effects（特效）to your videos. They show people doing activities like cooking, exercising, and singing.

More than 50 percent of junior high school students said they enjoyed watching these short videos. "About 47 percent have posted their own video." the China National Youth Palace Association reported.

The videos let teenagers see funny and exciting things they wouldn't usually see. For example, a 12-year-old user named Xiaoqiangyu posts videos showing her learning jazz dance. This wins her many fans.

However, the videos can also cause much trouble. Some videos have vulgar content（低俗内容）and it is not good for teenagers. Many teenagers imitate（模仿）what they see in short videos.

 Some students spend much time watching them. They don't have enough time to study.

To deal with this problem, Tik Tok added a new function（功能）. The government also monitors（监管）these apps much more strictly.

In your school, are you allowed to choose the subjects you want to learn? Of course, the answer is "No" here in China.

In America there is a school something new. At a high school in Florida, students will be able to choose their own classes. We all know that some students are at some subjects than others. Some students plan to go on to college, others will not. At this school students are able to find subjects they are in, and possibly even find the field(领域) they would like into after school. They are allowed to choose a subject: biology, math, a foreign language, or study skills like computer or car repair.

Some people think this is a good idea, because it helps. students about what they want to do in the future, and the school helps to give them the knowledge and skills needed to get there. They say that giving the students the chance to choose own classes makes high school more interesting. Others disagree. They think that fourteen-year-old teenagers are too young to know they will do in the future.

①Swifts live mostly in the air. These small birds are among the fastest animals on Earth. In fact, swifts can go two or three days without touching the ground! To get used to life in the sky, swifts use their speed and the saliva in their mouths.

②Swifts can fly faster than 100 miles per hour. That's because their wings are like boomerangs. This shape of the wings helps them to fly much faster. They can also move one wing faster than the other, which allows them to make sharp turns without slowing down. Making fast, sharp turns helps swifts catching flying bugs to eat.

③The saliva helps swifts catch bugs to feed their young. It is sticky, like glue. Swifts often fly into clouds of bugs such as mosquitoes and open their wide mouths to catch as many insects as they can. The bird collects insects in its mouth graduallyand holds the insects in a sticky ball of saliva. One food ball can contain nearly 1,000 bugs.

④Swifts also use their saliva as glue to build their nests. The birds catch feathers in the air and stick the feathers together to build a strong nest on the side of a cliffor building. Swifts' short feet are not good for walking or standing on land for long. But their sharp claws allow them to stick to rocks and walls so they can take a brief rest before returning their lives in the sky.

⑤Having two good eyes is important for judging(判断) distances(距离). Each eye sees things from a slightly different angle. To prove this to yourself, look at an object out of one eye; then look at the same object out of your other eye. You will find the object's relation to the background and other things around it has changed. The difference between these two different eye views helps us to judge how far away an object is. People who have only one eye cannot judge distance as people with two eyes.
