It snowed again. My seventh 1 was round the corner. I dreamed of getting the present from Father Christmas until my elder sister dropped the bomb (炸弹). "There is no Father Christmas." I ran to my grandmother's house, for she always told the 2. "No Father Christmas?" she was a little 3. "Don't believe it. Put on your coat. Let's go to Kerby's Store."
Grandma handed me the dollars and said. "Take the 4 and buy something for someone who needs it. I'll 5 you in the car out of the Kerby's."
For a few seconds I just stood there, holding the money, wondering what to buy, and 6 to buy it for. I thought of 7 I knew my family,my friends,my neighbors…I suddenly thought of Bobbie, a boy sitting right behind me in Mrs. Polack's 8.
Bobbie 9 went to any party during the winter. His mother always wrote a note, telling the teacher that he had a cough, 10 we all knew that he didn't have a cough, and he didn't have a 11. I decided to buy Bobbie a red warm coat as a present.
That evening, grandma helped me wrap the coat in Christmas paper and ribbons (丝带), and 12 "To Bobbie. From Father Christmas" on it. Grandma told me Father Christmas never let people know that he 13 them. Then she drove me over to Bobbie's home.
Grandma parked the car along the street and we hid behind the trees near Bobbie's home. Then Grandma said to me. "All right, Father Christmas get going."
I took a deep breath, rushed to his front door, put the present down 14 the door, rang the doorbell and flew back to Grandma. We waited breathlessly in the dark for the front door to open. Finally it did and there stood Bobbie.
That night, I realized that Father Christmas was 15 and well and we were on his team.

When you cough or sneeze, you'd better turn your head away from others and cover your mouth with your hand. And then, you should say, "Excuse me."
This seems so simple, but many kids have never been told to do this. Actually, some adults cough and sneeze in public without placing a hand over the mouth. It's important for people to wash their hands as soon as possible after they sneeze or cough on their hands. If not, they will pass germs (细菌) along to everything and everyone they touch.
If you come to a door and someone is following you, hold the door. If the door opens by pulling, pull it open, stand to the side, and allow the other person to pass through first, then you can walk through. If the door opens by pushing, hold the door after you pass through.
Many kids try to get through doors in the school as the door hit other people. Let someone else go through a door first as they hold it open. It may seem unimportant, but it can help students realize how to be polite and thank others.
When we have to go up moving stairs, we will stand to the right. Others in a hurry will walk up the left-hand side. When we are going to enter a lift or the underground, we had better wait for others to come out before we enter.
I went to some places such as London, people tried to make way for others. I was touched. On moving stairs, everyone stood to the right. On lifts, everyone would stand over to the side and allow others to exit before they began to enter.
For years I wanted a flower garden. I'd spend hours thinking of different things I could plant.
But then we had Matthew, and Marvin, and the twins, Alisa, and Alan, and then Helen. Five children. I was too busy raising them to grow a garden.
Money was tight (拮据的), as well as time. Often when my children were little, one of them would want something that cost too much, and I'd have to say, "Do you see a money tree in the yard? Money doesn't grow on trees, you know."
Finally, all five got through high school and college and were off on their own. I started thinking again about having a garden.
Then, one spring morning, on Mother's Day, I was working in my kitchen. Suddenly, I looked out of the window and there was a new tree, planted right in my yard. I saw things blowing around on all its branches. Then I put my glasses on — and I couldn't believe what I saw.
There was a money tree in my yard!
I went to have a look. It was true! There were dollar bills all over that tree. There was also a note among them, "Thank you for your time, Mom. We love you."
Later, my children bought me tools, a sunflower stepping stone and gardening books.
That was three years ago. My garden's now very pretty, just like I wanted. When I go out and take care of my flowers, it feels like my children are right there with me. I think about what my children did for me, and I get tears in my eyes — every time.
I'm still not sure that money grows on trees. But I know love does!

Chinese young people use social apps (应用软件) a lot now, such as Tik Tok (抖音) and Kuaishou. Some think it is fun to share short videos about their lives. Some have other purposes.
A 12-year-old user named Elsa has up to 2.7 million followers on Tik Tok. The girl has shared videos about her dancing studies since last July. "I feel really happy to go on sharing happiness with other people by short videos," said Elsa.
A group of users depend on them to get information. To some other users, they have a different purpose. "I am a very impatient person. I prefer to watch short videos of wonderful parts in a concert or a TV play," said Wang Zhihao.
However, some young Chinese feel bored with some short videos. "Many short videos are almost the same, so I think watching them is a waste of time. Also, I really don't like some videos because they show strange even dangerous things," said Wen Nan, another college student.
Recently, something else has happened. Some videos are telling people what products are worth buying. Some users buy the products after watching them, but they should think twice. If they don't think carefully, they may get fake (假的) products and regret soon.
