I'm David. When I 1, I want to be a car engineer. I want a job in a big car company. At first, I wanted to be an actor. But then I thought about how much I like 2, I really like them. I don't know3. I just do!
It's very hard to 4a good place in our city to study car design. I am 5to find it. It is a 6in New York. It 7students something about the design of all kinds of transportations. After finishing high school, I plan to go there.
What do I need to get ready for this university? I need to study art, physics and math well. I also need to be good at drawing, I like 8, but it's not my favorite hobby. I think I'll have to be good at it 9I want to be a car engineer.
Now I have some money for my study. But it's very expensive to study in the university. I will have to pay 1080000 dollars for the study! I will really need to win a scholarship (奖学金)!
Trains have been an important form of transportation for a long time. Yet they have changed a lot since 1804, when the first train moved at 8 km/h. Today's high speed trains can go 300 km/h or faster. Besides their speed, they have many advantages over other transportation types.
Japan built the world's first high speed railway. In 1964, Japan's "Shinkansen" trains started travelling between Osaka and Tokyo at 200 km/h. Over time, more lines, as well as faster trains, were built.
Korea, England, and the U.S.A., now have their own high speed systems. Taiwan Province's started running in 2007. Its trains are based on two types of Shinkansen trains. They can carry 989 people and travel from Taipei to Kaohsiung in less than two hours.
These systems are expensive to build, but they have many advantages(优点). For example, they are good for the environment. Trains on the London to Paris line create 1/10 the pollution that planes create. High speed trains are also safer and cleaner than cars.
Super fast trains can even help a country's economy(经济）. They make it easier to travel to faraway places. That helps businesses and land values in those areas. It's no wonder so many countries are building their own high speed railways.
Confidence is very important in daily life. It is helpful to develop a healthy attitude (态度). A study shows that people who are more confident are much happier. They can have more chance to make themselves successful. But how to be more confident? Here are some suggestions:
• Speak loudly! When you are not confident, you can't do well what you want to do. You speak in a voice so low that other people can hardly hear you. Try to speak loud enough so that people can hear you clearly. The high voice can help you become more confident.
• Play sports! A strong body is a strong mind. Physical exercise makes you tired but completely relaxed. A strong body helps you be full of confidence.
• Encourage yourself! Write down a list of things you did during the day to see how many things you have done well. Did you finish your homework? Did you tell a joke that made everybody laugh? Give yourself praise for the good things you've done.
• Pick up a hobby! If you like singing, sing as much as you can. In some ways, a hobby can make you outstanding (杰出的). And it will make you happy and confident
Different people have different ideas about time. People in the U. S. think that it is important to know the time. In cities in America, there are clocks in stations, factories and other buildings. Radio announcers (播音员) tell you the correct time during the day. Most Americans also have watches with them wherever they go. They want to do certain things at certain time. They don't like to be late.
But time is not so important to everybody in the world. When you visit a country in South America, you will find that people there don't like to rush. If you had an appointment with somebody, he could probably be late, because he may not want to arrive on time.
In South America, even the radio program may not begin on time. The men on the radio may not think it is important to tell the exact time. People in South America think that clocks or watches are just machines. They think that you let a clock or a watch control your life if you do everything on time.
