In ancient times, people's only transportation means（方式）was their feet. So it was difficult for them to travel from one place to another. As a result, they knew few things about the outside world. The world was too big for them to understand.
With the development of modern science and technology(技术), more and more transportation means appear: bicycle, bus, car, train, ship, plane, etc. They carry goods and passengers to every corner of the world. And they shorten(缩短) the distance(距离) between people. With the help of these modern facilities (设备），people all over the world can stay in touch with each other.
So it's easier for people from different nations to understand each other and to communicate with each other. Thus, this world is getting smaller and smaller, just like one big family.

Mary: If we don't do anything to save the earth, our children and grandchildren will live in a world with much pollution. There will be fewer trees and more buildings, because there will be more people.
Jack: I agree with Mary. Things will be worse. The weather in the future will be much hotter. Humans won't be able to live on the earth. We will have to look for another planet to live on.
Linda: I think the life in the future will be better. Most people in the world will use "green cars" by 2030, so there will be less pollution and people will live to be 200 years old. As for space trip, I will say, we will visit Mars (火星）in about fifty years.
In the spring of 2019, I went to watch the movie The Wandering Earth《流浪地球》. It is very exciting.
In the movie, the Earth is about to hit Jupiter (木星）. Everybody lost hope in saving the earth, but a boy called Liu Qi. He thought up a wonderful idea at the last minute. However, there isn't enough help. There is not much time left for people to get together with their families again. Liu's sister then teaches people a lesson about what hope is. The lesson touches people's hearts and changes their minds, they are all ready to save the earth at last.
The love in Liu's family is really touching. I cried when Liu's grandfather died. All he cares about is his grandchildren's safety. Although(虽然) Liu seems to dislike his father. When his father decides to help him out, Liu shouts and tries hard to stop his father. His father loves his son so deep. Their talk before their last goodbye made me cry again.
At last, people save the earth successfully. I believe Liu's family will love each other more. Where there's life, there's hope. As long as we join hands with each other. We can make anything come true. It is an important lesson I learned from the film.
