Several months ago , a couple with a little girl moved in next door to me. The girl seemed too quiet to make any noise, while the parents were always 1her loudly. Whenever we met my new neighbours , I always spoke, but the only 2 I ever got was a hello from the 4-year-old girl.
I usually go out for breakfast and one day when I returned, they were just coming from their home and the little girl was holding the door open for others. Everyone has experienced a twist of fate at some time. Actor Hu Ge is no different. In fact, his story is more amazing than most.
Hu was once a shy boy, and rarely spoke. To help him become more sociable, his parents sent him to an art troupe. At that time, Hu never thought he would have a career on stage or in front of the cameras.
Instead of getting confidence in acting, Hu became very interested in directing. As the national college entrance examination approached, Hu chose to study directing at the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing. Hu got a high mark.Hu had to decide whether to be a director or an actor. He followed his dream and prepared to go to Beijing. The 22-year-old man breathed life into main character Li Xiaoyao, and he proved himself to be one of the most promising stars . But few people, including Hu himself expected him to be an actor.
When playing Li Xiaoyao in 2005, he said he made great progress with his kung fu instructor. Hu said, “Surprising, I found pleasure and satisfaction.” In 2006, Hu was badly hurt in a car accident. I asked what I could do to help him. He said all he wanted was a slice of pizza. I gave him $3, the only cash I had . He said he wanted to go to get the food himself, but he was stopped from the shopping center for begging. I said I would get it for him and asked if he wanted something to drink .
Then he asked for a(n) ride to the trail in the woods where he had his tent. Usually I don't give rides to strangers, but this was just up the street, and quite honestly he had no physical threat to me. When we parted, he held my hand for a long time and we just looked at each other wordlessly for a few moments.
At that time, he wasn't a homeless man and I wasn't a sufferer .We became just two souls making a human connection I don't know if I will ever see him again, but I know I will never forget him. God bless you, Mark, and your beautiful blue eyes and gentle soul.
Have you ever wondered why birds sing? Maybe you thought that they were just happy. After all, you probably sing or whistle when you are happy.
Some scientists believe that birds do sing some of the time just because they are happy. However, they sing most of the time for a very different reason. Their singing is actually a warning to other birds to stay out of their territory.
Do you know what a 'territory' is? A territory is an area that an animal, usually the male, claims as its own. Only he and his family are welcome there. No other families of the same species are welcome. Your yard and house are your territory where only your family and friends are welcome. If a stranger should enter your territory and threaten you, you might shout. Probably this would be enough to frighten him away.
If so, you have actually scared the stranger away without having to fight him. A bird does the same thing. But he expects an outsider almost any time, especially at nesting（筑巢）season. So he is screaming all the time, whether he can see an outsider or not. This screaming is what we call a bird's song, and it is usually enough to keep an outsider away.
Birds sing loudest in the spring when they are trying to attract a mate and warn others not to enter the territory of theirs.
You can see that birds have a language of their own. Most of it has to do with attracting mates and setting up territories.
I once believed that a friend is a friend all the way. Now I have changed my ideas about friendships.
1). Friends of convenience(便利). They can be the people who live next door or the mothers of our children's closest friends. Friends of convenience are good indeed. They'll help us when we need it. They'll look after our cats when we go on holidays. But we don't ever get too close or tell too much. Between us, we'll talk about being overweight but not about being sad or disappointed(失望). However, people still find it necessary to make friends like this.
2). Special-interest friends. These friendships aren't deeply personal or emotional(感情上的). They lie in some shared interests, so we may have an office friend, a tennis friend, or even a shopping friend.
3). Historical friends. We all have a friend who knew us when…maybe we were back in the second grade of primary school, when our family lived in that two-room flat downtown. He or she was the first, the only friend we told our secrets to.
The years have gone by, and we have gone different ways. But we're still a personal part of each other's past. We know how we looked before our teeth were straightened(矫正), and our getting together makes us think of an earlier part of ourselves, which is important and never lost.
4). Cross-generational friends. These are friendships that from across generations(代). I have in my own life a precious(珍贵的) friend, a woman of 65, who is clever, who listens well, and who means not only an ideal mother to me but also the person I'd like to be when I grow up.
