Polar bears(北极熊) are great white northern bears living across the Arctic(北极) area. They are the largest and most powerful meat-eating animals on the sea ice. However, they are endangered animals too.
According to a study by the University of Toronto, polar bears could die out within the next80 years because the Arctic sea ice continues to melt(融化) at a fast speed. This makes it hard for the bears to search for food.
These years, the speed of temperature rising is more than twice as much as that in the 1780s.The rising temperature is making polar bears' living areas smaller and smaller. The shrinking sea-ice might cause the bears to move toward land.
Last year, in Russia's Arctic area, groups of hungry polar bears broke into villages and towns, because they couldn't find food on the ice as usual. "Everyone understood why this happened," Mikhail Stishov from the World Wildlife Fund said. "They would come on to people's living area and get used to it."
Summer vacation became very boring when my best friends left for summer camp. Getting up later each morning, I was spending more and more time with my smart phone and the TV. But when my mom told me that l couldn't use my smart phone, I felt like I had lost my world. I had nothing to do, circling from room to room all day.
One day, Mom asked me if I would accept a challenge(挑战)to follow the same ant for ten minutes.
"What's so difficult about that?" I asked."
"You might be surprised." Mom smiled.
"Is there a prize for the challenge?" I asked.
"Of course. But if you lose, you'll have to do some housework."
To win the challenge, I needed a special ant so that I could follow him easily. My eyes were fixed on a big ant carrying a leaf. "There he goes, Mom." She set the timer for 10 minutes.
For the first minute, the ant ran all the way to the gate. "Perfect!" I thought. Then, he came to a wide crack(裂缝), he tried to cross, but failed. Then he disappeared into the grass. My heart sank as l saw myself cleaning the bathroom. Then surprisingly, he climbed out carrying a piece of leaf and was back on his way.
For the last three minutes, he dropped his leaf as if he would disappear again. To my surprise, he placed the leaf across the crack and walked across it to the other side, like a bridge. Wow!
Just then, my mom's timer rang. I was lucky to win my prize. But l was mostly encouraged by the ant that actually created its own bridge. Now Mom has allowed me to have my phone, but l learned there is still more other fun in life.
A new taxi-hailing(打车)App on smart phones started to be in use in Shanghai in October. It allows users to hail a taxi with only one touch. This App called "Shen Cheng Chu Xing" is more user-friendly. It will make it easier for old people, because most of them can't keep up with the new technology in their daily life. "Finally, l could manage to hail a taxi without my daughter's help. It's so amazing!" Chen Chunxia, a 66-year-old lady said.
The App will connect users to over 20,000 taxis in the city. It can find the locations(位置)of passengers by itself. Thus drivers can reach the pick-up locations more quickly and lower the chances of taxis moving around the city without passengers.
Users can hail a taxi by simply touching the "hail" button and wait for the nearby taxis to pick up the order. The App is also set up in more than 200 taxi-waiting areas in the city, where people without a smart phone can hail a taxi as well.
For the safety of passengers, all the taxi drivers must pass health and background checks before they can receive orders from the App.
The App would also be updated in the near future to offer more services, such as helping drivers find nearby restrooms and restaurants.

Dear Julie,
I am wondering if you'd like to come and spend a few weeks at my house this summer. We have a spare room in the house. So there will be no problem for you to live in it.
The best time to come is in August since the weather is usually good then and
There is a large castle about twenty kilometers from the house. It is said that it has a history of 500 years.
As you know, I live in a quite small village and you may think that there will be nothing to do, but, in fact, it is a very lively place, especially in the summer when there are always lots of things going on.
One of the most enjoyable summer events is an international jazz festival which takes place in the middle of August and lasts for over a week. It is always great fun to listen to the music.
Please let me know if and when you can come so that I can begin making plans for your stay as soon as possible.
Best wishes,
Yours,
Lisa
