Coming to the end of my assistantship(助手)in Barcelona, I start to think about the future.

It is seven months and a few days since I arrived here and things have changed so much. When I first arrived in Terrassa, I was excited but I didn't know how to start a new adventure(冒险)in a strange country. I found the first few days seemed so long, trying to find a place to live, organizing my timetable with the schools, meeting new people. After a couple of weeks, the excitement started to disappear, however, and homesickness(思乡)started to set in. It wasn't a powerful homesickness but enough to make me spend more than a few nights thinking about family and friends back home, wondering if I should be there with them.

All that started to change after meeting some new friends and spending good time with them, practicing languages, eating together and seeing new places as a group. I think that we should never forget how important it is to have good people in your life, because they can make such a difference.

Coming back to Terrassa after visiting home for Christmas felt like returning to a second home. Things got even busier and more people came into my life; new friends, romance and a whole lot of good food flowed by in what seems to have been weeks, not months.

Now, looking forward, there are some decisions to make. Should I return home to Scotland and move on with life there or try to extend(延长)my time here?

To travel and visit other places is one of the most meaningful things you can do in life.

Experiencing other cultures, learning about the world, it's such an important thing to do if you have the means.

What I have learned from my experience so far is to travel and try new things whenever you get the chance. You may find somewhere you always want to be.

    1. (1) How did the writer feel when he first arrived in Terrassa?
A . He felt nervous and worried. B . He felt excited but nervous. C . He felt excited but homesick. D . He felt nervous and lonely.
    2. (2) What can we learn from the passage?
A . The writer's family stayed with him in Barcelona. B . The writer has never been back to his hometown. C . The writer began to feel homesick after a few weeks. D . The writer made new friends soon after he went to Barcelona.
    3. (3) What is the writer unsure about?
A . Where to spend his future life. B . How to enjoy his life in Terrassa. C . What to do to extend his time in Terrassa. D . Whom to celebrate Christmas with.
    4. (4) What has the writer learned from his experience?
A . Travelling alone is good for people. B . Having a clear idea of oneself is important. C . Learning about the world makes the world more colorful. D . Keeping an open mind to new things is very important.

As we all know, eating too much sweet food does no good to our health. But have you thought that your sweet tooth might have something to do with less sleep.

A new study finds that getting seven to nine hours of sleep per night may help control food.

Researchers at King's College London trained some "short sleepers" —people who slept less than seven hours per night. In order to extend their sleep time, the researchers asked them not to drink coffee any more. They must spend less time using smart phones and go to bed on time every night.

Because of the training, the "short sleepers" began to sleep one more hour per night. And here's the interesting thing: they also changed their diets.

"We have found that those who extended their sleep also reduced(减少)their intake of sugar by about 10 grams every day," said one of the researchers.

Their study is published in the American Journal of Nutrition. It provides more evidence(证据)that our sleep can influence(影响)our eating habits.
