    Every year, a lot of children in the USA go to summer camps. Some go to play outdoors in the woods, in the mountains or on lakes. But families now have many choices of special camps. These can be in the middle of nature or a big city. Special camps offer young people the chance to learn about different subjects.

    In technology camps, one subject that children can learn about is video game design. They learn how to use computer programs to create games of their own. One program that teaches video game design is called Cyber camp. Children can learn how to design their own virtual (虛拟的) worlds to set their video games in. Then, they program their own rules and objects into the games.

    Cyber camp also offers courses in robot building and Web design. A recent story in the Washington Post described how one child made a robot that could sing a song. Another made a robot that could follow a black line drawn on a piece of cardboard. Also, children can learn how to make websites. One child made a site for Pokemon, one of his favorite cartoon shows.

    Venus is the second nearest planet from the sun. It is only a little smaller than the earth, about 95% of the earth's diameter(直径) and 80% of the earth's mass (质量). Earth and Venus are sometimes called the twin planets.

    The word Venus means the goddess of love and beauty in Greek. ____________ probably because it is one of the brightest planets we have known by now. We human beings have known Venus for a long time. It has a cloudy atmosphere. This helps it reflect sunlight. So it appears to be very bright. It is easily observed in the sky. It is seen near the sun. It seems that it is the brightest thing in the sky except the sun and the moon.     Scientists for years thought that Venus was very likely to have life in some forms. In 1962, scientists sent the first spacecraft to explore Venus, and we will know more about Venus in the future.

    Spiderman is one of the most famous comic book heroes of all time. He was created by Stan Lee in 1963 and was first introduced to the world in the pages of Marvel comic books.

    Spiderman's story is the story of Peter Parker, a child who lost his parents and lives with his aunt and uncle. Peter is a shy, quiet boy wearing glasses and has few friends. One day, on a high school class trip to a science lab, he gets bitten by a special spider. Soon Peter realizes he has amazing powers: he is as strong and quick as a spider and also has a type of sixth sense. He no longer needs his glasses and he can use his super power to fly through the city streets! Remembering something his Uncle Ben has told him, "with great power, there must also come great responsibility(责任)."Peter decides to use his powers to fight enemies who do cruel things to people. And so, Spiderman is born.

    Life is not easy for Peter even though he is a superhero. He is in love with Mary Jane but he cannot tell her about his amazing powers. Besides, his best friend Harry hates Spiderman! Peter is, also short of money and time. He has to sell photos of Spiderman (himself) to a newspaper and he keeps losing his other jobs because he's so busy saving people! Yet he has to fight different kinds of cruel enemies.

    Bob and Mary had a happy family. They had a son named Tony and a daughter named Lisa. They lived in a big house in (德国). Bob had a great  (兴趣) in football. And Mary loved roses very much. She had a quite big (私人的) garden in her house. She planted a lot of blue roses in it. They were pretty nice and (有价值的).

    One day, Bob and Tony had a football match near the rose garden. The match was really wonderful! Suddenly, the football was kicked into the garden and as a (结果), it destroyed many lovely roses. The (凌乱) in the garden looked really terrible. Certainly, it made Mary (发疯的), she couldn't help shouting at her husband and her son. Bob and Tony felt sorry, so they tried a lot to (使满意) Mary but they failed. When seeing the garden, Mary always felt her (心) broken. In the end, the daughter had an idea. She asked a famous (艺术家) to paint a picture of blue roses for her mother. The roses were so beautiful just like those in the garden before. The mother smiled.

    In November 1979, pupils in England able to watch a new TV programme called Monkey. Most of them were hearing this story the first time. However, this story is not new to (China) children. The Monkey King or Sun Wukong is the main character in the traditional Chinese book Journey to the West.

    The Monkey King is not just normal monkey. In fact, he sometimes does not even look like a monkey! This is because he can make seventy·two changes to his shape and size, turning himself into different animals and objects. But unless he can hide his tail, he can't turn (he) into a person. (fight) bad people, the Monkey King uses a magic stick. Sometimes he can make the stick so small he can keep it in his ear. At other times, he is able to make it big and long.

    The children of China (love) the Monkey King for many years. And as soon as the TV programme came out more than 30 (year) ago, Western children became (interesting) in reading this story because the clever Monkey King keeps fighting to help the weak and never gives up.

    What would you do if you felt anxious (焦虑的)? Would you feel better if someone else could share his or her experiences with you? In the United States, two teenage girls set up a mental health camp called "Healing (治愈) Hearts" to help people deal with anxiety.

    The idea of creating the camp came from Dinah Martinez, 17, and her schoolmate Janet Martinez, 18. Both girls suffered from anxiety.

    Dinah Martinez always did well in school. "But then I just started to collapse (崩溃)" Dinah Martinez said. She stopped talking to her friends, stopped going to school for three weeks and stayed at home.

    Janet Martinez was anxious in elementary school. Things got even worse in junior high. "It was a lot of pressure (压力) I put on myself. I would wake up in the morning and it was like my heart was racing," she said.

    The girls' camp idea got support from Girls Leading Our World (GLOW) in the US. The organization awarded them $5,000 to put on the camp for other teenage girls.

    The "Healing Hearts" camp was created to "help deal with anxiety, especially with girls in high school because that's when they are the most vulnerable (脆弱的) ,"Janet Martinez said.

    On the first day of the camp, 10 girls were there. Experts at the camp talked about anxiety. They helped girls who were experiencing anxiety. The girls learned how to calm themselves when they are anxious. They learned about calming methods like deep breathing and guided mediation (调节).

"It's good to know that someone else is going through the same thing as me and we can both help each other out," Dinah Martinez said.
