Spring is coming. As a Chinese saying goes, "The whole 1 work depends on a good start in spring". In order to 2 a good job for the whole year, we often like to make some plans and preparations at this time of the year. However, many of us have a lot of plans in the beginning and finally fails to carry them out. How can we deal with 3 like this?
Conditions in our lives change every day. Sometimes, we can't realize our plans4 . We should learn to change or even give up our plans. For 5 , I like to have a plan. When I learn about things that 6 on certain dates, I write them on my calendar. I also keep some blank paper on my desk. Once a hungry mouse found a small nut. He started to bite into it but its cover was thick and hard. The mouse's teeth were too tiny to cut into it. The poor mouse prayed(祷告) aloud to God, "Oh God! Why did you give me such tiny teeth? I have food here but I cannot eat."
Immediately he heard God's voice, "Dear Mouse, go and look at other animals' teeth. No matter whose teeth you like, they will be given to you. "So the mouse went to the forest nearby. He looked at the teeth of many animals living there. But he did not like their teeth at all. At last the mouse went to the elephant. He was very interested in the long and white tusks of the elephant. The little mouse asked the elephant, "Sir, are you happy with your long beautiful teeth?"
The elephant replied, "Friend, these teeth are just for show. I cannot use them to chew ( 咀嚼)food as you do. And they might always bring me bad luck. Your teeth are really small, but at least you don't have to bear the heavy weight of your teeth."
Hearing this, the mouse thanked God for giving him the tiny teeth.
The weather is getting hotter and you'll be getting thirstier playing basketball or riding home from school. A cold drink may be just the thing. But be careful what you pour down your throat. Something that looks cool may not be good for your health.
There are plenty of so-called energy drinks (功能饮料) on the market. Most of them have an attractive color and cool name. Their nutrition (营养) lists also contain various things from vitamins to ginseng (人参). Sounds great!
But after a careful check you may find that most energy drinks contain high levels of caffeine (咖啡因). These drinks are typically (典型地) aimed at young people, students, busy people and sports players.
Makers sometimes say their drinks make you better at sports and can keep you awake. But be careful not to drink too much.
Caffeine raises your heartbeats (脉搏，心跳). Because of this, the International Olympic Committee has limited their use. The amount of caffeine in most energy drinks is at least as high as in a strong cup of coffee or strong tea.
Research by Australian scientists has found that many teenagers are affected by caffeine. The result of their survey show that 27 percent of boys aged 8--12 take in more caffeine than their parents.
There are potential (可能的, 潜在的) health risks (风险) linked to energy drinks. Just one can of energy drink can make you nervous, have difficulty sleeping and can even cause heart attacks.
Teenagers should be discouraged from having drinks with a lot of caffeine in them, an expert from the Australia Nutrition Foundation said.
