Hello, boys and girls! I'm Helen. The Student Art Festival starts in our middle school. Today is December 13th. There is a photo show. Students take many photos. All of them are great. I love one of the photos a lot. It's a photo of a big family. It's named "Happy Birthday, Grandpa!" I think this student must have a happy family, just like me.
In the next two weeks, we have other fun things—the talent show, Chinese painting show and the DIY show. I like the talent show very much. The talent show is on the afternoon of December 19th. My classmate Tony and I will play the piano in the show. Our parents will come and watch the show. I hope we can do well. Do you have time? Please come and watch our show.
Wechat is popular among us, but if someone deletes you or blocks (屏蔽)you on it, does it mean you've made him or her angry?
It depends.
Maybe you have just left messages too often without much valuable information. For example, the questions are those like 'how are u?' 'what are u doing?' 'do u love me?' too often. You know, people may feel bored after answering such kinds of questions time after time.
Another possible reason may be that you've sent something unpleasant to your friend or in your friend circle. I just blocked one of my middle school classmates yesterday because she was trying to sell fake goods in the friend circle, and I hate it quite much.
Some people delete the one's name from friends' list because they no longer want to see it (maybe ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend) and they don't want the one to see their "Moments" on WeChat (maybe they publish very private pictures or life or thoughts they don't want to share with him or her).
So why you are blocked may depend on his or her mood or preference, and the reasons a person gets blocked are various from person to person. So I advise you to write an email or make a phone call to that person if he or she really means a lot to you to see why he or she is dissatisfied with you, and to find out how you can make up for the case.
School is out for the summer! What are you going to do with your free time? Volunteering is a great way to spend your free time and it can benefit you as well as the organization you are helping.
A great place to start is in your own community. Spend time playing with or helping teach disadvantaged children. Read to the blind. Run errands (跑腿) for the disabled. Feed the hungry in a local soup kitchen. Clean trash from streets or community parks.
Do you love animals? Pet shelters need volunteers to feed, clean, walk and play with animals. Are you interested in travel? There are volunteer opportunities to travel abroad through organizations such as Cross-Cultural Solutions who work with you to match your skills and interests to the community where you can make the most impact.
Volunteering is a great way to research possible careers. For example, if you are interested in work in the medical field, you may decide to volunteer at a hospital. This may allow you to get a foot in the door by making valuable contacts that could lead to future internships (实习职位) or employment. Volunteer hours on a college application or resume (简历) show that you are reliable and committed to spending your time and energy on something that your care about.
Being a volunteer can help you learn about yourself. You may learn new skills. It can help you learn what things you enjoy. You may even make new friends by meeting people with similar interests. Volunteering is rewarding.
Have you ever considered the way you spend your money? What do you buy? When do you buy? It is important to use your money wisely. Then, you will have enough for the things you want. You can make smart decisions about your money. All it takes is some careful, smart thinking.
One way to be smart with your money is to shop around before you buy. Visit more than one store, check the prices at each store, and try not to be in a hurry to buy. You don't have to buy at the first store you visit; another store might have what you want at a lower price. You can even check online and compare prices.
Another way to be smart with your money is to wait for a sale. Many stores offer special discounts. For example, suppose you want to buy a camera. Wait until a store has a sale. You can save 20 percent, 30 percent, or more on the price of the camera by waiting for a sale. Some stores also offer a discount if you buy more than one of an item. So, look for sales offering a lower price per item if you buy two of that item. You could save money.
You can also use your money wisely by buying larger sizes of things. For example, large bags of dog food usually cost less per pound than small bags cost. A large pack of pens usually costs less per pen than a small pack of pens. So, even though you may spend more on a large size, you are really saving money per item.
You can learn to be smart with your money. It takes some practice, and it takes patience. You cannot always have what you want right away. But if you are patient, you will save money. Then, you will have more money to spend on what you want.
Do you always get angry about something? Do you always take things too personally? Do you find yourself thinking people are laughing at you in public places? If you are sensitive about something, you are easily worried and angry when people talk about it.
Actually, sensitive people can appreciate food, the sound of music, the different colors of nature, or even traffic. They can also notice small differences in meaning, making them more emotionally intelligent and more creative.
However, it can also be a terrible burden if left uncared for. So you should do something to stop being too sensitive. For example, recognize those people who often leave you feeling tired in life and avoid them. Instead, surround yourself with people who will make you feel bright and happy. If you constantly feel negative about yourself, you'll struggle with being sensitive.
Another important thing to do is forgive those who have wronged you. Often sensitive people aren't good at letting things go. This is unhealthy as it'll keep you from enjoying both the present and the future. Take the lesson; leave the pain.
In a word, though being sensitive is certainly a challenge, you can deal with it correctly by taking proper efforts.
A. Why are some people sensitive?
B. Being a bit sensitive isn't a bad thing.
C. You are sensitive and you can't change that.
D. If the answer to any of these questions is yes, you are sensitive.
E. As a result, they find it difficult to move on from painful experiences.
F. So when a negative thought comes, correct it with something positive.
G. Sensitive people always put too much pressure on themselves and tend not to take care of themselves properly.
It was 9:55 am on Sunday. When I woke up, the first thing I saw was the shining mobile screen. I1it and found that it was a call from my boss. He screamed, "At 10:25. the meeting is going to start. If you 2 to bring the files to my office before the time, I would not hesitate to fire you." I remembered taking his files and 3 to give them back to him that day, but I forgot to remove them from my bag.
With my bag, I 4 to the nearby bus stop and got into a bus which was already packed up with lots of people.
5, I found a comfortable place. But the driver announced that we had to get down and6 the bus. I checked for other choices but none were 7. So I 8 pushing it with others. After a few seconds, the engine 9 and I jumped inside the bus and said, "Fast, I am late." But the bus was unbearably 10. Only seven minutes remained by then.
It was not expected that the bus broke down. I didn't wait any longer and started to run along the footpath. I11 that I would still reach there in time. I wanted to run faster but it seemed that my 12 didn't want.
At last, I arrived at my 13 before a minute or two. "Sir, I brought the files in time," I said with a feeling of 14. "Then give them back to me," he said hurriedly.
I turned only to 15 that I had left my bag IN THE BUS!
I first discovered China Daily a few years ago. It was the first time that I (visit) China, and I was waiting for my tour guide(arrive) at the hotel. I picked up a newspaper written in English — China Daily. I (open) the newspaper, and from that day on, in every hotel I visited, when the staff asked me, "A newspaper(deliver) to your room?" I would always answer, "Do you have China Daily?" Why had I(immediate) taken a liking to China Daily after just one reading of it? I think that China Daily is a very (influence) newspaper for many reasons. First of all, China Daily writes about both Western Chinese culture. example to support this reason is an article I read just the other day: When the Bard met his Chinese match. This article is about both China and the UK will honour their most famous playwrights with a series of (event) this year. The playwrights are William Shakespeare from the UK and Tang Xianzu from China. And the article also manages to compare them in a proper way.
My aunt Sandy is a very kind-hearted woman. She loves animals so much that she found a job in an emergency vet clinic after graduating from college. There she could help a lot of injured pets.
One day, a rescue worker brought in a homeless cat. The cat had numerous injuries and needed immediate medical aid. No one in the vet clinic wanted to rescue the cat but Sandy. All the others didn't think the cat would survive. And they suggested putting the cat to death.
But Sandy didn't want to give up. She always believes that every animal deserves a chance. Holding the cat in her arms, she was determined to rescue her.
Sandy was good at treating injured animals. Thanks to her, the cat survived. She took good care of the cat and she gradually recovered. However, it wasn't the end of the story. Because of the operation performed on her face, the cat always wore a sad expression and looked really ugly. Those who came to the clinic to adopt pets didn't want her.
The staff at the vet clinic suggested getting rid of the cat. But Sandy didn't agree. She wanted to adopt the cat herself, but there was a problem—her husband was allergic (过敏)to cats. So Sandy couldn't take her home.
Thinking the cat might have to be homeless, Sandy was very sad. She had tried very hard to rescue her so she didn't want to lose her. She tried to persuade people around her to adopt the cat, but they didn't show any interest in such an ugly cat.
