Don't invite crime -- take basic, sensible precautions (预防). Your house and possession are valuable and must be properly protected. When you buy a lock, you buy time. The best prevention is delay and noise which could mean discovery.

When you leave it- lock it! First of all, fit security locks to all doors and windows and a safety chain on the front door. Secondly, use them! If you have any ladders or tools, don't leave them lying about in the garden, lock them away. "Safe"or "secret" places for keys and valuables are not reliable -- nine times out of ten. they are the first place a thief will look. |
When you move house… When you move into a new home even if it is fitted with security locks, change them. You don't know who else may have keys. Never let strangers into your house. An official-looking cap is not enough, ask for proof of identity and look at it carefully -- if you are still not satisfied, don't let the person in. |

Valuables need special protection Valuables should really be given special protection- preferably by leaving them with your bank. A small security safe works too, but not to the most determined burglar. It is also important to keep an up-to-date list of valuables and their descriptions. In the case of fine art paintings, or jewelry, color photographs can sometimes be of assistance to the police if you are unfortunate enough to have them stolen. Going on holiday? Don't talk about your holidays and future plans loudly in public. Do remember to cancel the milk and newspapers and also to draw curtains back. Operate a "Good Neighbor" program to ensure that mail is taken in, the house is checked regularly and that lights are put on. Call at your local police station and tell them you are going away. I guess I always knew about the little fish treat, but this past summer it was all I could see. Pipin and Nemo were flying through hoops (圈), dancing with the trainer, and we were all applauding (鼓掌) -- the little kids were excited. That's when the trainer, rewarded Pipin and Nemo with a fish. Each time they successfully performed a trick, they'd get an immediate reward.
These animals weren't really dancing, of course. They were performing a series of movements that they knew would have a fish. It's such a good show because the sea lions look like they're having such fun.These talented performers who love to be in front of people seem almost human.
Somewhere in our life Journey, we all have a sea lion moment. The practice of students endlessly copying letters and sentences from a blackboard is a thing of the past. With the coming of new technologies like computers and smart phone, writing by hand has become something of nostalgic (怀旧的) skill. However, while today's educators are using more and more technology in their teaching, many believe basic handwriting skills are still necessary for students to be successful - both in school and in life.
Virginia Berninger, professor of educational psychology at the University of Washington, says it's important to continue teaching handwriting and help children acquire the skill of writing by hand.
Berninger and her colleagues conducted a study that looked at the ability of students to complete various writing tasks -- both on a computer and by hand. The study, published in 2009, found that when writing with a pen and paper, participants wrote longer essays and more complete sentences and had a faster word production rate.
In a more recent study, Berninger looked at what role spelling plays in a student's writing skills and found that how well children spell is tied to know well they can write. "Spelling makes some of the thinking parts of the brain active which helps us access our vocabulary, word meaning and concepts. It is allowing our written language to connect with ideas." Berninger said.
Spelling helps students translate ideas into words in their mind first and then to transcribe (转换) "those words in the mind written symbols on paper or keyboard and screen," the study said. Seeing the words in "mind's eye" helps children not only to turn their ideas into words, says Berninger, but also to spot (发现) spelling mistakes when they write the words down and to correct then over time.
"In our computer age, some people believe that we don't have to teach spelling because we have spell checks," she said. "But until a child has a functional spelling ability of about a fifth grade level, they won't have the knowledge to choose the correct spelling among the options given by the computer."
Secrets of Top Students
A professor of education who has made some studies of top students said that top grades do not always go to the brightest students.
Top students master a few basic rules that others can also learn. Top students study anywhere or everywhere. A top student who is also a top athlete recites biology terms as he works out every day. Another student learns a new word every morming while brushing his teeth. Top students are also well organized. Top students immediately put the day's notes in different folder s(文件夹). According to one professor, the student who turns in neat work is already on the way to scoring an A. In the classroom, it is equally important for students to speak up and ask question. As a student puts it, "Better grades come from better understanding." Another technique is to do more than the homework. A student says that if her teacher gives five problems, she will undertake ten. In the student's words, "Part of learning is practising. The more you practise, the more you learn."
It showed that students who discussed homework and problems together, tried different approaches and explained their solutions to one another scored higher than those on their own.
Last but not least, all experts and top students agree that the most important "secret" lies in the contribution by parents. They set high standards for their children and hold them to those standards. They impress the lessons of responsibility on their children, and the children deliver.

As a college student, I joined a technology and invention group. We chose to focus on studying paint materials for buildings that 1 little or no pollution.
