The undersea world is very beautiful. Now more and more people want to 1 in the water to find the secret there. Scuba diving (水肺潜水) is a new sport today. It can take you into a wonderful undersea world.
If you are lucky, you will 2 find many strange animals in the sea. Some are as 3 as a school bus. Some are so tiny that you may not 4 them at all.
During the day, there is enough 5. Everything is blue and green. When fish swim nearby, you can catch them with your hands. When you have bottles of air on your back, you can stay in 6 water for a long time. However, you can't dive too deep. And you must be very 7 when you are in deep water, because something dangerous may happen unexpectedly.
The deep sea is not an easy place to live in. It's cold, and it's 8 too. The deeper it is, the less sunlight there is. At about 3,000 feet, there is no light at all.
Besides the cold and darkness, deep-sea animals face a third 9 —other animals. Animals eat! Many animals eat plants. However, some animals eat 10. This means these sea animals have two big jobs. They need to find animals as food, and they have to try not to become other animals' meal.
It was Saturday again. Grace and Karen disliked Saturdays. That was another thing the twins had in common. They shared the same clothes and tied their hair in the same manner. In fact, it was hard for their classmates and teachers to tell them apart sometimes.
Unlike their classmates, they had to get up early every Saturday to prepare for their lessons. Grace had to attend the art lesson and Karen had to attend her ballet lesson. "How I wish I could do something different today," said the twins with one voice. All at once, an idea came to Grace and Karen at the same time. "How would you like to be me for a day?" they asked each other. It seemed like a wonderful plan to them. After giving each other a description of their own mends. Grace put on Karen's ballet dress while Karen put Grace's brushes and paints into her bag. Then they left for their classes.
When the art lesson started, Karen was lost. Unlike Grace, Karen was poor at drawing. When the art lesson finally ended, Karen didn't dare to hand in her work.
Meanwhile, Grace was struggling in the ballet class as well. As she had no idea about the dance steps, she had to follow her classmates blindly. As a result, she kept knocking into them. Their ballet teacher became impatient with her, "Karen, you should remember the basic steps. You can't rely on copying what others are doing."
When Karen and Grace got home, they were tired out. They decided that they would never try to be someone else they were not. It seemed that the grass was not always greener on the other side.

Most people have heard of the Great Wall, but not many people outside China know about the Grand Canal. This man-made waterway—known to the Chinese as the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal—is the longest as well as one of the oldest canals in the world and a place of interest. It's 1,797 kilometres long and some parts of it are more than 2,000 years old. Starting from Beijing, it passes through Tianjin and the provinces of Hebei, Shandong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang to the city of Hangzhou. The Grand Canal links the Yellow River and the Yangtze River.
It was built as a way to transport grain from the rich agricultural land in China's south to cities in the north. In fact, it's not one canal, but a system of canals and rivers linked together. It's still an important part of the transport system in China. Thousands of ships use it every day to transport grain and many other types of goods.
The Chinese government has done new work on the Grand Canal. It has made parts of it deeper, so bigger ships can use it. The canal also helps to move water. There is a lot of rain in the south of China, but not as much in the north. The canal can carry millions of liters (公升) of water from the south to the north.
The Grand Canal is much less famous than the Great Wall, and not very many tourists visit it. But it's possible to go on a cruise (乘船游览) along some of the oldest parts of the canal. Passengers on these cruises can see beautiful parts of China that other visitors don't see.
On Tuesday, 6 February, 2018, Elon Musk's company SpaceX successfully launched the Falcon Heavy rocket for the first time at the Kennedy Space Centre in Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA. The launch of Falcon Heavy marks a milestone (里程碑) in spaceflight. It's the first time that a powerful rocket was sent into space by a private company.
Elon Musk, who was born on 28 June, 1971, is a South African-born Canadian American investor and engineer. He is the man who sets up several important technology companies. In December 2016, he was ranked 21st on the Forbes list of The World's Most Powerful People.
Born in Pretoria, Musk taught himself computer programming at the age of 10. He moved to Canada to attend Queen's University when he was 17. He transferred (转学) to the University of Pennsylvania two years later, where he received a degree in physics from the College of Arts and Sciences and a degree in economics from the Wharton School.
He began a PhD in applied physics and material sciences at Stanford University in 1995, but dropped out within a month to try to start an entrepreneurial career. He soon set up Zip2 with his brother, a web software company. Musk then set up X. tom, an online payment company. In May 2002 Musk set up SpaceX, an aerospace manufacturer and space transport services company. He is CEO and lead designer of it.
Musk has stated that his goals aim to change the world and the lives of human beings. And Tuesday's success takes Musk one step forward to realizing his dream of sending humans to Mars on larger rockets.

In the 19th century, trains were the best way to travel long distances over land. Trains were fast and convenient. In the 20th century, airplanes replaced trains for long-distance travel. Today, however, high-speed trains are attracting passengers again. France has a train called the TGV. TGV is "Train a Grande Vitesse" in French, which means "high-speed train". A TGV train operates at speed up to 300 km／h. The passengers can travel from Paris to Marseilles in only four hours.
The first country to have a high-speed train is Japan. The Bullet train offers a fast, smooth ride between Tokyo and other major cities in Japan. This train operates at speed up to 210 km／h and can travel between Tokyo and Osaka in just three hours.
China has the world's longest high-speed rail network with over 19,369.8 km of track (轨道) in service from December 2014. China's high-speed rail system also includes the world's longest line, the 2,298 km Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed railway. China's high-speed trains are marked with "CRH" (China's railway high-speed). They are also called Hexie Hao. The fastest trainsets, CRH380BL, reached the highest test speed of 487. 3 km／h.
After the death of a jeweler (珠宝商), his family got into trouble because they soon ran out of money. One day, the jeweler's wife took out diamond watch and said to her son, "Son, take this watch which is really (value) to your uncle's shop and ask him to give you money." The boy went to his uncle's shop and gave the watch to him once.
